Genome sequence of the Chlamydophila abortus variant strain LLG [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Chlamydophila abortus is a common cause of ruminant abortion. Here we report the genome sequence of strain LLG, which differs genotypically and phenotypically from the wild-type strain S26/3.

Gonorrhoea: New Threats from Multidrug-Resistant Strains of Neisseria Gonorrhoeae, and the Epidemiological Situation

open access: yesPrzegląd Dermatologiczny
Europe and Poland are reporting increasing gonorrhea rates. This article outlines the key challenges in diagnosing drug‑resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae, tracking their spread, and understanding resistance mechanisms, along with an overview of new ...

The Applied Development of a Tiered Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) Scheme for Dichelobacter nodosus

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Dichelobacter nodosus (D. nodosus) is the causative pathogen of ovine footrot, a disease that has a significant welfare and financial impact on the global sheep industry. Previous studies into the phylogenetics of D. nodosus have focused on Australia and

Core genome and whole genome multi-locus sequence typing of Cronobacter isolates

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Cronobacter species, especially C. sakazakii and C. malonaticus, are opportunistic pathogens that are linked to severe infections in infants with high case fatality rates.

Comparing Multiple Locus Variable-Number Tandem Repeat Analyses with Whole-Genome Sequencing as Typing Method for Salmonella Enteritidis Surveillance in The Netherlands, January 2019 to March 2020

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2022
In the Netherlands, whole-genome sequencing (WGS) was implemented as routine typing tool for Salmonella Enteritidis isolates in 2019. Multiple locus variable-number tandem repeat analyses (MLVA) was performed in parallel.

Core genome multilocus sequence typing reveals an endemic Salmonella Enteritidis infection common to fox, cattle, and swine farms in Finland.

open access: yesVeterinary Microbiology
Salmonella Enteritidis infections started to appear in fox farms in Finland in 2002, but it was not until 2014 when S. Enteritidis emerged on cattle and swine farms. S. Enteritidis is also a common finding from dead hedgehogs throughout the country.

Enhancing the Secretion Systems: Genetic Engineering of Super Bioagents for Effective Plant Disease Control

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Genetic engineering (GE) overcomes BCA limits, enabling robust, scalable crop protection. “Super Bioagents” (SBs) use optimized SSs to enhance bioactive molecule delivery. Optimizing SSs enhance precise, sustainable effector deployment for stable disease suppression. SBs use microbiome‐informed design for scalable, next‐gen sustainable crop protection.

Molecular epidemiologic source tracking of orally transmitted Chagas disease, Venezuela. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Oral outbreaks of Chagas disease are increasingly reported in Latin America. The transitory presence of Trypanosoma cruzi parasites within contaminated foods, and the rapid consumption of those foods, precludes precise identification of outbreak origin ...

Analysis of the Global Population Structure of Paenibacillus larvae and Outbreak Investigation of American Foulbrood Using a Stable wgMLST Scheme

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2021
Paenibacillus larvae causes the American foulbrood (AFB), a highly contagious and devastating disease of honeybees. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) has been increasingly used in bacterial pathogen typing, but rarely applied to study the epidemiology of P ...
