Low Loss Tapered Polysilicon Core Fibers [PDF]

open access: yesConference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2016
We have fabricated small core polysilicon waveguides by tapering bulk, as-drawn silicon optical fibers. The taper process acts to improve the local crystallinity of the core, resulting in a significant reduction in the material loss.

Low Loss Antiresonant Hollow Core Fibres [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics, 2011
We study the loss mechanisms in novel antiresonant hollow-core fibres and demonstrate the importance of optimising the air-cladding thickness and reducing the node size. Based on these rules we fabricate fibres with wide-bandwidth and low-loss.

Co-axial dual-core resonant leaky fibre for optical amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a co-axial dual-core resonant leaky optical fibre design, in which the outer core is made highly leaky. A suitable choice of parameters can enable us to resonantly couple power from the inner core to the outer core. In a large-core fibre, such

Differential Inverters: A General Design Procedure Integrating a Novel Power Losses Modeling Approach for Utilized DC–DC Modules at Different Modulation Schemes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Differential inverters develop the PWM of internal DC-DC modules by correlating fundamental frequency of load with high switching frequency to maintain inherent characteristic operation and achieve pure higher/lower AC output voltage with smaller size ...

A practical approach for magnetic core-loss characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
A practical approach for magnetic core-loss characterization up to a few megahertz is presented. An error analysis is for the first time performed, revealing that corrections are needed to compensate for errors introduced by the extra phase shift ...

High Performance Planar Magnetics Based on an Unbalanced-Flux Approach

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics, 2023
This paper presents a new design concept to increase the efficiency and the power density of planar magnetics. In contrast to the existing magnetics, which are built using the balanced magnetic flux density design, the proposed design concept generates ...

Compositional analysis of InAs-GaAs-GaSb heterostructures by low-loss electron energy loss spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
As an alternative to Core-Loss Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy, Low-Loss EELS is suitable for compositional analysis of complex heterostructures, such as the InAs-GaAs-GaSb system, since in this energy range the edges corresponding to these elements ...

Effect of Annealing Prior to Cold Rolling on the Microstructure Evolution and Energy Losses of Low-Si, Ultra-Low-C Hot-Rolled Electrical Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The microstructure of a low Si, ultra-low-C, hot-rolled electrical steel strip is modified by annealing at T < To, the α→γ transformation temperature.

In situ real-time analysis of alloy film composition and segregation dynamics with parallel detection reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Real-time measurements of GexSi1 – x/Si(001) composition and segregation dynamics in Sn/Si(001) in molecular beam epitaxy are demonstrated using parallel detection reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy.

Curvature-related eddy-current losses in laminated axial flux machine cores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper we present an axiperiodic quasi-static model to evaluate the magnetic flux density distribution and power loss due to curvature related radial flux in the laminated core of axial flux machines.
