Analysis on Magnetic Characteristics of Three-Phase Core-Type Transformers [Part II: Non-Linear Solutions and Experimental Results for R3-Type Core] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
This paper deals with the magnetic characteristics (the flux distributions, core losses, etc.) of threephase core-type transformers with double-layer. In the preceding report, only linear solutions have been given.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

High-Frequency Gap Losses in Nanocrystalline Cores

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2017
Finite element analysis is used to examine the gap losses that occur in finely laminated nanocrystalline inductor cores under high-frequency operation. The losses are seen to be concentrated in the region of the air gap and the dependence of the losses on key design parameters and operating conditions is explored.

Analysis of Effects of Magnetic Slot Wedges on Characteristics of Large Induction Motors

open access: yes, 2011
Magnetic slot wedges are often used to improve starting performance of large induction motors. In this paper we have investigated – through simulation – the effects of the wedges on the performance characteristics of the motor and core losses under no ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
