Combined inferences from seismology, high-pressure experiment and theory, geomagnetism, fluid dynamics, and current views of terrestrial planetary evolution lead to models of the earth's core with the following properties. Core formation was contemporaneous with earth accretion; the core is not in chemical equilibrium with the mantle; the outer core is

AbstractWe set = ‹, ≤L, # ›, where is the set of degrees of nonconstructibility for countable sets of countable ordinals. We show how to define inductively over this structure the degrees of such sets of ordinals in Κ, the core model, and the next few core models thereafter, i.e.

The lipid core model of lipoproteins
Chemistry and Physics of Lipids, 1973Abstract Several aspects of the lipid core model for lipoproteins were examined in a quantitative manner. Detailed consideration was given to a geometric factor relevant to the packing of lipids on curved surfaces, which allowed computation of the maximum amount of lipid which can be accommodated about a sphere of given size.

THE CORE IN FUZZY SPATIAL MODELS
New Mathematics and Natural Computation, 2010Predictions concerning voting outcomes in crisp spatial models rely heavily on the existence of a core, in the absence of which political players choosing among a set of alternatives by majority rule will not be able to arrive at a stable choice. No matter which option they might initially choose, most voting rules will permit another option to defeat

Entropy of the hard-core model
Physical Review E, 2010The entropy of the hard-core model is analyzed subject to dimension, system size and particle density. Inspired by the exactly solvable one-dimensional case and the results from a virial expansion, we suggest a scaling relation for the two-dimensional and three-dimensional case.

The Legion project at the University of Virginia is an architecture for designing and building system services that provide the illusion of a single virtual machine to users, a virtual machine that provides secure shared object and shared name spaces, application adjustable fault tolerance, improved response time, and greater throughput. Legion targets

Models of core/periphery structures
Social Networks, 2000A common but informal notion in social network analysis and other fields is the concept of a core/periphery structure. The intuitive conception entails a dense, cohesive core and a sparse, unconnected periphery. This paper seeks to formalize the intuitive notion of a core/periphery structure and suggests algorithms for detecting this structure, along ...

The core cadastral domain model
Computers, Environment and Urban Systems, 2006Abstract A standardized core cadastral domain model (CCDM), covering land registration and cadastre in a broad sense (multipurpose cadastre), will serve at least two important goals: (1) Avoid re-inventing and re-implementing the same functionality over and over again, but provide a extensible basis for efficient and effective cadastral system ...

Core-Guided Model Reformulation
2020Constraint propagation and SAT solvers often underperform when dealing with optimisation problems that have an additive (or separable) objective function. The core-guided search introduced by MaxSAT solvers can overcome this weakness by detecting and exploiting cores: subsets of the objective components that cannot collectively take their lower bounds.
