Dynamics of non-Newtonian Casson fluid and Cattaneo-Christov heat flux impacts on a rotating non-uniform surface due to Coriolis force: A comparison study of ANFIS-PSO and ANN

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Aim of the present study: It must study liquid flow over surfaces above the earth because its surface rotation stimulates liquids heated amid the sun. Consequently, the Coriolis impact force is investigated on Casson convective flow fluid with Cattaneo ...

Large‐Eddy Simulation of the Spray‐Laden Hurricane Boundary Layer: II. Spray Impacts on Air‐Sea Fluxes

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract The effects of spray on air‐sea fluxes in high‐wind environments have been studied for decades, and several models have been developed and implemented. Owing to the difficulties in making direct measurements in these conditions, however, many process‐level details of spray‐turbulence interaction remain unknown, and certain assumptions must ...

CALCULATION OF FORCE CONSTANTS DIRECTLY FROM CORIOLIS COUPLING CONSTANTS

open access: yes, 1964
Author Institution: North American Aviation Science CenterIt has been established for a number of molecules that off diagonal force constants which are sensitive functions of the observed frequencies may be more accurately determined by considering ...

The Impact of Fronts and Eddies Under Various Melt Conditions on Antarctic Ice Shelves

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract Ocean eddies are observed beneath Antarctic ice shelves, yet their role in regulating basal melting remains unclear. We use nonhydrostatic Large‐Eddy Simulations that resolve eddies and boundary‐layer turbulence to examine a baroclinically unstable salinity front that breaks into eddies.

The Maintenance of the Longitudinal Subtropical Jet Structure During Austral Winter

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract The austral winter subtropical jet maintenance is analyzed by comparing the observed upper tropospheric zonal momentum budget with an idealized aquaplanet model simulation with localized tropical heating in the summer hemisphere. The model and observations show great similarity, demonstrating the dominant role of localized tropical convection ...

Surface Expression of the Kuroshio Extension Northern Recirculation Gyre

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract The Northern Recirculation Gyre (NRG) of the Kuroshio Extension (KE) has traditionally been viewed as subsurface‐intensified and difficult to identify at the sea surface. We combine a 2016–2025 subsurface mooring record, satellite altimetry, Argo trajectory‐based velocities, and historical near‐bottom velocities to reassess the sea‐surface ...

Assessing the Impact of Sea Surface Temperature Biases in CMIP6 Coupled Models on the North Pacific Westerly Jet

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract This study investigates the impact of sea surface temperature (SST) biases on the latitude of the climatological North Pacific westerly jet using multi‐model analyses and atmospheric general circulation model (AGCM) sensitivity experiments. A comparison of atmospheric‐only and coupled simulations from 35 models participating in the Coupled ...

Observation of Yanai Wave Excitation by Tropical Instability Waves in the Equatorial Pacific

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract Yanai waves are observed in the central equatorial Pacific at 436–864 m depth, below the Equatorial Undercurrent. Applying maximum likelihood estimation to shipboard ADCP measurements enables identification of Yanai wave signals from irregularly sampled observations.
