It turns out I am a terrible physiotherapist. If you practise in a ‘Hands On’ manner and believe everything you read online, then you might come to the conclusion that you are too. Such is the vehemence of opinion in the ‘Hands On-Hands Off’ debate on platforms such as Twitter, it seems to echo the polarising political discourse that is now so common.

Trap-Corn to Control Corn Rootworms12
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1974A study was conducted in Nebraska during 1972 and 1973 to determine whether a small area of late-planted “trap-corn” would attract females of the western corn rootworm, Diabrotica virgifera LeConte, and the northern corn rootworm, D. longicornis (Say), from a larger area of corn planted at the normal time (early-corn) and thus concentrate egg ...

Management of Corn Rootworms in Refuge Corn
2009We evaluated current management options for corn rootworm in refuge corn. Refuge corn is defined as corn that does not produce insecticidal toxins from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) for control of corn rootworm. We studied a soil-applied insecticide and a seed treatment by measuring their effectiveness at protecting corn roots from injury ...

The idea presented is to replace corn with oak trees as a feed substitute, aiming to tackle climate issues like carbon sequestration and erosion. Oak orchards, unlike annual crops, sequester significant amounts of CO2 and improve soil health. Acorns, rich in nutrients, could provide an alternative feed for livestock.
