Pyrolysis kinetics of wheat and corn straw
Journal of Analytical and Applied Pyrolysis, 1998The primary degradation kinetics of wheat straw and corn stalks have been investigated under isothermal conditions. Thin layers (about 100 μm) of milled, dried straw are exposed to radiative heating. Thermal degradation is made to occur in the absence of heat and mass transfer limitations, while the sample temperature is controlled by continually ...

Perspective and Prospective of Pretreatment of Corn Straw for Butanol Production
Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2013Corn straw, lignocellulosic biomass, is a potential substrate for microbial production of bio-butanol. Bio-butanol is a superior second generation biofuel among its kinds. Present researches are focused on the selection of butanol tolerant clostridium strain(s) to optimize butanol yield in the fermentation broth because of toxicity of bio-butanol to ...

Influence of coal ash on the characteristics of corn straw pyrolysis products
Bioresource Technology, 2020To discern influence of inorganic substances in coal on the co-utilization of coal and biomass, coal ash (CA) was added to biomass for pyrolysis. TG-FTIR and fixed bed reactor were used for pyrolysis of corn straw (CS) with CA. XRF and XRD were used to detect the reactants and products components, respectively. At constant heating rate.

A Study for Performance of Corn Straw Smashing Device
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012Reducing smashing power is important to a combine harvester. The results from the experiments indicated that rationally choosing the combination of parameters of moving reamer, fixed reamer and bundle angles could remarkably reduces smashing power. The straight moving knife matching cutting fixed knife has a better feeding ability and can get a higher ...

Effect of biological pretreatments in enhancing corn straw biogas production
Bioresource Technology, 2011A biological pretreatment with new complex microbial agents was used to pretreat corn straw at ambient temperature (about 20°C) to improve its biodegradability and anaerobic biogas production. A complex microbial agent dose of 0.01% (w/w) and pretreatment time of 15 days were appropriate for biological pretreatment.

Impact of bioaugmentation on psychrophilic anaerobic digestion of corn straw
Bioresource TechnologyIn order to investigate the mechanisms by which bioaugmentation affects psychrophilic anaerobic digestion (AD), this study introduced a psychrophilic methanogenic culture into the sequencing batch of psychrophilic AD systems. The findings demonstrated that bioaugmentation boosted the abundance of Smithella (23.2 times), Syntrophobacter (9.9 times), and

Competitive Sorption of Metsulfuron-Methyl and Tetracycline on Corn Straw Biochars
Journal of Environmental Quality, 2012The application of biochars into soil may influence the fate of contaminants. Sorption and competitive sorption of metsulfuron-methyl (ME) and tetracycline (TC) on corn straw biochars prepared at 100 to 600°C (referred to as CS100-CS600) were examined. The Freundlich model described sorption isotherms well. The lower sorption capacity () of ME compared
