Enhancing Recovery Yield of Vegetable Oil Methyl Ester for Bioresin Production: A Comparison Study Using Acid Neutralization

open access: yesChemEngineering
Vegetable oil methyl ester has promising properties for bio-based resin production due to its higher degree of unsaturation. The initial low methyl ester yield from corn oil compared to soybean and canola oils requires further investigation of the ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Nitrogen dynamic and precise management to predict corn yield in tropical upland acid soils [PDF]

open access: yesGlobal Journal of Environmental Science and Management
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: To meet the needs of the global population (9.7 billion people) until 2050, a 45 percent increase in corn production is required. Efforts to enhance corn production may be informed, among others, precise N management.

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Have Biotech Seeds Increased Maize Yields? [PDF]

open access: yes
Corn yield is determined by soils, weather, seed used and other technology choices. Global population and per capita income growth trends as well as demand from the energy sector have placed great stress on cropland use.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...
