Role of Jagged1-mediated Notch Signaling Activation in the Differentiation and Stratification of the Human Limbal Epithelium

open access: yesCells, 2020
The Notch signaling pathway plays a key role in proliferation and differentiation. We investigated the effect of Jagged 1 (Jag1)-mediated Notch signaling activation in the human limbal stem/progenitor cell (LSC) population and the stratification of the ...

Umberto Eco’s Encyclopedia vs. Porphyry’s Tree [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Cet article met en question une tendance postmoderne assez répandue : celle de reconstruire abusivement la signification d’un texte du passé, de telle façon que ce texte puisse jouer le rôle d’allié ou d’ennemi dans nos guerres idéologiques.

Noncontact depth-resolved micro-scale optical coherence elastography of the cornea.

open access: yesBiomedical Optics Express, 2014
High-resolution elastographic assessment of the cornea can greatly assist clinical diagnosis and treatment of various ocular diseases. Here, we report on the first noncontact depth-resolved micro-scale optical coherence elastography of the cornea ...

FXa‐Responsive Hydrogels to Craft Corneal Endothelial Lamellae

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a sacrificial, multicomponent biohybrid hydrogel system enabling stable scaffold‐free tissue engineering. Its efficacy is demonstrated through the ex vivo development, detachment, and transplantation of human corneal endothelial lamellae, achieving clinically relevant sizes for Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty.

Evaluation of interface quality in organ-cultured lamellar corneal transplants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: With increasing numbers of lamellar keratoplasties, eye banks are challenged to deliver precut lamellar donor tissue. In Europe, the most common technique of corneal storage is organ culture which requires a deswelling process before surgical

On the Automated Detection of Corneal Edema with Second Harmonic Generation Microscopy and Deep Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
When the cornea becomes hydrated above its physiologic level it begins to significantly scatter light, loosing transparency and thus impairing eyesight. This condition, known as corneal edema, can be associated with different causes, such as corneal scarring, corneal infection, corneal inflammation, and others, making it difficult to diagnose and ...

“Therapies Through Gut:” Targeted Drug Delivery for Non‐Gastrointestinal Diseases by Oral Administration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the mechanism of targeted delivery of nanoparticles including 1) paracellular, 2) endolysosomal escape, 3) receptor mediated endocytosis, and 4) M cell mediated transport for non‐GI diseases by oral administration such as atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, and brain diseases. Abstract Oral drug delivery is a promising approach

On the barrier properties of the cornea: a microscopy study of the penetration of fluorescently labeled nanoparticles, polymers, and sodium fluorescein.

open access: yesMolecular Pharmaceutics, 2014
Overcoming the natural defensive barrier functions of the eye remains one of the greatest challenges of ocular drug delivery. Cornea is a chemical and mechanical barrier preventing the passage of any foreign bodies including drugs into the eye, but the ...
