A Müller Glia‐Retinal Pigment Epithelium Apical Network Surrounding Cone Outer Segments in Fish and Mouse

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 12, December 2026.
Müller glia and the retinal pigment epithelium interact around cone outer segment in the subretinal space of both zebrafish and mouse. The contacts are established early during development but subsequent to outer segment emergence. ABSTRACT Homeostasis of the vertebrate retina critically depends on two non‐neuronal cell populations, Müller glia and the

Innovative PLA or PCL‐Based Ocular Implants Obtained From Tape Casting or Electrospinning for Sustained‐Release Dexamethasone

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 43, November 15, 2026.
PLA and PCL ocular implants prepared by tape casting and electrospinning provide sustained dexamethasone release with distinct release profiles governed by polymer type and processing method. The relationship between polymer structure, degradation behavior, and drug release demonstrates the potential of these fabrication techniques for controlled ...

Corneal blindness in Singapore and its prevention.

open access: yesAnnals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, 1989
The pattern of corneal disorders in Singapore is different from that seen in the western countries, and in the developing countries. Dendritic corneal ulceration, keratoconus and corneal dystrophy are relatively uncommon. Bullous Keratopathy, however, is on the increase, due mainly to the increasing number of cataract operations done and to the use of ...

Sex, Age, and Skull Morphology Effects on Eye Size and Refractive Errors in Reindeer

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 11, November 2026.
We tested the hypothesis that male reindeer (Rangifer tarandus tarandus) with larger skeletal dimensions, would have larger eyes and narrower binocular overlap, but similar refractive errors compared to females. After controlling for differences in skeletal measures, males were found to have relatively smaller eyes than females, whereas binocular ...

Computed tomography long‐term follow‐up of a facial fracture involving the orbit and paranasal sinus

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 58, Issue 6, Page 1642-1650, November 2026.
Abstract Background Fractures of the facial bones involving the orbit are challenging conditions that require surgical treatment. Objectives To describe preoperative and postoperative clinical and computed tomographic findings of an orbital rim fracture repaired using a reconstruction plate. Study Design Case report.

Fungal Keratitis Among Patients With Microbial Keratitis or Corneal Ulcer in Africa: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Fungal keratitis is a sight‐threatening cause of microbial keratitis in tropical, resource‐limited settings, but its burden in Africa has not been synthesized. We estimated the pooled prevalence of fungal keratitis among patients with microbial keratitis or corneal ulcer in Africa and summarized reported etiological ...

Evaluation of the Effects of Isoflurane Anaesthesia on Gastrointestinal Transit Time, Feed Intake and Defecation in Rabbits

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, November 2026.
Isoflurane anaesthesia was evaluated for its effects on gastrointestinal transit time, feed intake and faecal output in five healthy male rabbits. No clinically evident changes were observed in gastric transit, formation of hard faeces, feed intake or faecal output.

Oral Antioxidant Provides Adjunctive Therapeutic Benefits Alongside Dexamethasone in a Rat Model of Endotoxin‐Induced Uveitis

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, November 2026.
In a rat model of endotoxin‐induced uveitis, oral antioxidant supplementation combined with dexamethasone significantly reduced TNF‐α, increased IL‐10, and produced the highest superoxide dismutase activity versus dexamethasone alone, supporting its potential as an adjunctive strategy to mitigate oxidative stress and inflammation.
