Background and Purpose The pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)‐induced cardiomyopathy involves cardiac fibrosis that leads to diastolic dysfunction. We established that replacement of lost substance P (SP) that occurs in T2DM reduces cardiac fibrosis and decreases inflammation in T2DM mice and non‐human primates.

Femtosecond Laser Created Corneal Allogenic Intrastromal Ring Segments for Keratoconus
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate the clinical outcomes of femtosecond laser‐created corneal allogenic intrastromal ring segments (femto‐CAIRS) in keratoconic eyes using a newly described nomogram. Methods This retrospective case series recruited 85 eyes from 75 patients.

In the oxygen‐induced retinopathy (OIR) mouse model, two distinct microglial subpopulations play opposing roles: highly glycolytic microglia (HGM) promote neovascular formation via Pkm2, while Mrc1/CD206‐positive phagocytosis‐associated microglia (PAM) facilitate its regression.

During development, the oxygen‐sensitive transcription factor Zeb2 restrains astrocyte proliferation and maturation to ensure balanced retinal angiogenesis. In disease, it promotes the neurotoxic A1 astrocyte phenotype and inflammation, thereby promoting reparative revascularization over pathological neovascularization.

Rabbit corneal endothelium cells (RCECs) preserved in CTV regenerate corneal endothelium.
(A) Schematic image showing the protocol for assessment of the feasibility of cell preservation in CTV. RCECs were harvested from the culture plate and suspended in CTV for 24 hours at 4°C, the ROCK inhibitor, Y-27632, was added to the RCECs before ...
