Flow-enhanced corona discharge: The corona torch

Journal of Applied Physics, 1988
An experimental investigation has been conducted to enhance and control corona discharge in two small diameter cylindrical hollow electrodes by an external gas flow. The results show that the time-averaged corona current for fixed discharge voltages increases with increasing gas flowrate of pure nitrogen, and pressure drop is not significantly ...

Corona-Discharge-Initiated Mine Explosions

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2004
Strong circumstantial evidence suggests that lightning has initiated methane explosions in abandoned and sealed areas of underground coal mines. The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) investigated several of these occurrences within recent years. The investigated explosions occurred at significant depths, ranging from 700 ft to 1200 ft.

Corona discharge treatment

Pigment & Resin Technology, 1987
The coating, printing and bonding of both single and multi‐layer paper, plastic, foil, and tin‐plate products can be a complex process. Creating an environment where adhesives, inks or substrate materials will adhere successfully to each other, demands that certain essential parameters are fulfilled.
