First Metis Detection of the Helium D3 Line Polarization in a Large Eruptive Prominence

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
Metis on board Solar Orbiter is the space coronagraph developed by an Italian–German–Czech consortium. It is capable of observing solar corona and various coronal structures in the visible-light (VL) and UV (hydrogen Ly α ) channels simultaneously for ...

Snapshot coronagraphy with an interferometer in space

open access: yes, 2000
Diluted arrays of many optical apertures will be able to provide h igh-resolution snapshot images if the beams are combined according to the densified-pupil scheme.

Subaru Near-IR Coronagraphic Image of LkHα 198 [PDF]

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 2002
Abstract High-resolution near-infrared imaging of a Herbig Ae/Be star $\mathrm{LkH}\alpha$ 198 has been carried out using the coronagraphic camera CIAO (Coronagraphic Imager with Adaptive Optics) on the Subaru 8.2 m Telescope. Obtained images resolve the infrared companion (IRC) and an associated reflection nebula.

Disk Evolution Study Through Imaging of Nearby Young Stars (DESTINYS): Dynamical Evidence of a Spiral-Arm-Driving and Gap-Opening Protoplanet from SAO 206462 Spiral Motion

open access: yesUniverse
In the early stages of planetary system formation, young exoplanets gravitationally interact with their surrounding environments and leave observable signatures on protoplanetary disks.

Risk Assessment of the Ground Magnetic Response to the March and April 2023 Geomagnetic Storms Using Geomagnetically Induced Currents Indices

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 23, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract We analyzed the solar origin and ground response during the severe geomagnetic storms (GSs) of 23–24 March (GS1) and 23–24 April 2023 (GS2) using Geomagnetically Induced Currents Indices (GIC indices) computed from geomagnetic field data. The GSs were initiated by erupting filaments and associated slow (fast) halo coronal mass ejections on 20 ...

Probing the Outskirts of M Dwarf Planetary Systems with a Cycle 1 JWST NIRCam Coronagraphy Survey

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
The population of giant planets on wide orbits around low-mass M dwarf stars is poorly understood, but the unprecedented sensitivity of JWST NIRCam coronagraphic imaging now provides direct access to planets significantly less massive than Jupiter beyond

Improved Companion Mass Limits for Sirius A with Thermal Infrared Coronagraphy Using a Vector-apodizing Phase Plate and Time-domain Starlight-subtraction Techniques

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
We use observations with the infrared-optimized Magellan Adaptive Optics (MagAO) system and Clio camera in 3.9 μ m light to place stringent mass constraints on possible undetected companions to Sirius A.

A Search for the Damped Ly-alpha Absorber at z=1.86 toward QSO 1244+3443 with NICMOS

open access: yes, 2000
We have carried out a high-resolution imaging search for the galaxy associated with the damped Lyman-alpha (DLA) absorber at z=1.859 toward the z_{em}=2.48 quasar QSO 1244+3443, using the HST and the NICMOS. Images were obtained in the broad filter F160W

Subaru Near Infrared Coronagraphic Images of T Tauri [PDF]

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 2006
Abstract High angular resolution near-infrared (JHK) adaptive optics images of T Tau were obtained with the infrared camera Coronagraphic Imager with Adaptive Optics (CIAO) mounted on the 8.2 m Subaru Telescope in 2002 and 2004. The images resolve a complex circumstellar structure around a multiple system.

Decent Estimate of CME Arrival Time From a Data‐Assimilated Ensemble in the Alfvén Wave Solar Atmosphere Model (DECADE‐AWSoM)

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract Forecasting the arrival time of Earth‐directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) via physics‐based simulations is an essential but challenging task in space weather research due to the complexity of the underlying physics and limited remote and in situ observations of these events. Data assimilation techniques can assist in constraining free model
