Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

The Gaussian rank correlation estimator: Robustness properties. [PDF]

open access: yes
The Gaussian rank correlation equals the usual correlation coefficient computed from the normal scores of the data. Although its influence function is unbounded, it still has attractive robustness properties.

Effects of Phytogenic Feed Additive on Production Performance, Slaughtering Performance, Meat Quality, and Intestinal Flora of White-Feathered Broilers

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
This study systematically evaluates the effects of dietary supplementation with phytogenic feed additive (0.2%, 0.4%, and 0.8%) on white-feathered broilers (n = 88) through a 42-day controlled trial with the weight of approximately 50 g. The experimental

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Study on resistivity-stress-damage coupling patterns and mechanisms in coal failure under loading

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua
The occurrence of dynamic disasters is closely related to stress concentration in coal and rock, and coal resistivity varies significantly under different stress states.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Calibration of a gas sensor based on cross-correlation spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2008
In this work an analysis of some calibration effects in the overall response of a gas sensor based on cross-correlation spectroscopy is presented. For this analysis we considered that an FPI with long cavity length (>500 µm) acting as a modulator and ...
