Towards Precision LSST Weak-Lensing Measurement - I: Impacts of Atmospheric Turbulence and Optical Aberration

open access: yes, 2011
The weak-lensing science of the LSST project drives the need to carefully model and separate the instrumental artifacts from the intrinsic lensing signal.

Ghost Imaging Using Optical Correlations [PDF]

open access: yesLaser & Photonics Reviews, 2017
AbstractGhost imaging uses optical correlations to enable an alternative and intriguing image acquisition technique: even though information from either one of the detectors used for the acquisition does not yield an image, an image can be obtained by harnessing the optical correlations.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Comparative In Situ Study of Dynamic Load Generated by Gravel Piles Measured by a Fiber-Optic Interferometer

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Currently, all the technology used for seismic monitoring is based on sensors in the electrical domain. There are, however, other physical principles that may enable and fully replace existing devices in the future.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Entanglement and Phase-Mediated Correlations in Quantum Field Theory. Application to Brain-Mind States

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The entanglement phenomenon plays a central role in quantum optics and in basic aspects of quantum mechanics and quantum field theory. We review the dissipative quantum model of brain and the role of the entanglement in the brain-mind activity ...

Study on the development and integration of 3D‐printed optics in small‐scale productions of single‐use cultivation vessels

open access: yesEngineering in Life Sciences, 2022
Integrating optical sensors and 3D‐printed optics into single‐use (SU) cultivation vessels for customized, tailor‐made equipment could be a next big step in the bioreactor and screening platform development enabling online bioprocess monitoring.

Polymer dynamics, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, and the limits of optical resolution

open access: yes, 2012
In recent years, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy has been increasingly applied for the study of polymer dynamics on the nanometer scale. The core idea is to extract, from a measured autocorrelation curve, an effective mean-square displacement ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Peculiarities of the Vertical Structure of Atmospheric Aerosol Fields in the Basin of Lake Baikal According to Lidar Observations

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2023
The paper briefly describes some features of the formation of aerosol fields in the water area of Lake Baikal in summer. The experimental data were collected during long-term expeditionary studies on the southeastern coast of the lake, at the Boyarsky ...
