Study on the development and integration of 3D‐printed optics in small‐scale productions of single‐use cultivation vessels

open access: yesEngineering in Life Sciences, 2022
Integrating optical sensors and 3D‐printed optics into single‐use (SU) cultivation vessels for customized, tailor‐made equipment could be a next big step in the bioreactor and screening platform development enabling online bioprocess monitoring.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Writhing Geometry at Finite Temperature: Random Walks and Geometric phases for Stiff Polymers

open access: yes, 2000
We study the geometry of a semiflexible polymer at finite temperatures. The writhe can be calculated from the properties of Gaussian random walks on the sphere. We calculate static and dynamic writhe correlation functions.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

μ-GLANCE: A Novel Technique to Detect Chromatically and Achromatically Lensed Gravitational-wave Signals

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Gravitational microlensing in the wave-optics (WO) regime occurs when the Schwarzschild radius of a lensing object is comparable to or smaller than the wavelength of incoming gravitational waves (GWs), producing chromatic amplitude and phase modulations.

Speckle-Correlation Holographic Imaging: Advances, Techniques, and Current Challenges

open access: yesPhotonics
The imaging modalities of correlation-assisted techniques utilize the inherent information present in the spatial correlation of random intensity patterns for the successful reconstruction of object information. However, most correlation approaches focus

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Thin front propagation in random shear flows

open access: yes, 2005
Front propagation in time dependent laminar flows is investigated in the limit of very fast reaction and very thin fronts, i.e. the so-called geometrical optics limit.

Optical coherence correlation spectroscopy (OCCS)

open access: yesOptics Express, 2014
We present a new method called optical coherence correlation spectroscopy (OCCS) using nanoparticles as reporters of kinetic processes at the single particle level. OCCS is a spectral interferometry based method, thus giving simultaneous access to several sampling volumes along the optical axis.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
