Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

The corrosion fatigue behavior of magnesium alloy influenced by corrosion inhibitors with the differentiated inhibition mechanisms

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys
The effects of three corrosion inhibitors on Mg-Zn-Y-Nd alloy corrosion fatigue were investigated. Salicylic acid (SA) induces uniform but rapid corrosion, limiting fatigue life improvement.

Corrosion Mechanism and the Effect of Corrosion Time on Mechanical Behavior of 5083/6005A Welded Joints in a NaCl and NaHSO3 Mixed Solution

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
The effect of corrosion time on the mechanical behavior of 5083/6005A welded joints in a 3.5% NaCl + 0.01 mol/L NaHSO3 solution was evaluated via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), polarization curve analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Corrosion Fatigue Crack Propagation Behaviour of a High Strength Low Alloy Steel in a Synthetic Sea Water Environment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The corrosion fatigue crack propagation behaviour of a high strength low alloy steel, N-A-XTRA 70, in a synthetic sea water solution was tested using S. E. N. specimens subjected to a loading frequency of 0.1 Hz and a load ratio of 0.6.

Influence of Si Content and Milling Duration on the Microstructure and Mechanical–Tribological Properties of AlCoCrFeNiSi High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Si‐doped AlCoCrFeNi high‐entropy alloys are synthesized by mechanical alloying to reveal the effect of Si content and milling time on phase evolution, microstructural refinement, and tribological behavior. A transition from FCC to BCC structure, significant grain refinement, and enhanced hardness and wear resistance are achieved, with the 4 at% Si ...
