Corrosion Fatigue

Corrosion, 1951
Synopsis It is not certain, from theory whether a preliminary period of dry fatigue should lengthen the normal corrosion-fatigue life by strain hardening, or shorten it by producing disarrayed metal which may be particularly susceptible to corrosion. An answer to this question was obtained by carrying out two-stage tests; a period of dry

Corrosion-Fatigue Technology

1978
Description 18 papers offer a broad view of technology for characterizing, analyzing and preventing corrosion-fatigue failure in structural steels, high alloy specialty steels, lightweight titanium and aluminum alloys, heat resistant nickel-base alloys, and corrosion resistant tantalum.

Corrosion Fatigue Test Selects Effective Corrosion Inhibitors

CORROSION 1980, 1980
Abstract This paper presents a method of corrosion inhibitor selection for field use. A corrosion fatigue testing device was used to evaluate the inhibitors. Results are based on an inhibitor's ability to extend the corrosion fatigue life of steel specimens in the producing environment.

Fatigue and Corrosion Fatigue Failures

Volume 3: Design and Analysis, 2005
A metallurgical failure analysis was performed for a hanger rod and a waterwall tube sample. The hanger is a rigid type and supports a long vertical run of piping. The fracture is in one of the threaded ends and the fracture surface consists of three regions.

Biologically enhanced corrosion fatigue

Biofouling, 1988
Corrosion fatigue is considered to be one of the most important factors in determining the life of static offshore structures such as platforms for oil and gas production; the combination of corrosive environment and cyclic stress can produce failure of metals by the development and growth of cracks.
