Final Report on the Safety Assessment of Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Seed Oil, Corylus Americana (Hazel) Seed Oil, Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Seed Extract, Corylus Americana (Hazel) Seed Extract, Corylus Rostrata (Hazel) Seed Extract, Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Leaf Extract, Corylus Americana (Hazel) Leaf Extract, and Corylus Rostrata (Hazel) Leaf Extract [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Toxicology, 2001
These ingredients are all derived from hazelnut trees. The two seed oils are expressed from the nuts of the hazelnut tree of the particular species identified. Most current reported cosmetic uses are of the seed oils. The seed extracts are the extract of the nuts of the identified species tree.

The missing woodland story: Implications of 1700 years of stand‐scale change on ‘naturalness’ and managing remnant broadleaved woodlands

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Longer‐term perspectives—equivalent to the lifespans of long‐lived trees—are required to fully inform perceptions of ‘naturalness’ used in woodland conservation and management. Stand‐scale dynamics of an old growth temperate woodland are reconstructed using palaeoecological data.

What does coexistence mean? Insight from place‐based trajectories of pastoralists and bears encounters in the Pyrenees

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The recovery of large carnivores in Europe raises issues related to sharing landscape with humans. Beyond technical solutions, it is widely recognized that social factors also contribute to shaping coexistence. In this context, scholars increasingly stress the need to adopt place‐based approaches by analysing how humans and wildlife interact ...

Functional trait interactions in a human‐dominated world: Urbanization and reproduction in Eurasian red squirrels

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Ecological traits such as behaviour, physiology and morphology mediate an organism's interaction with its environment, and understanding their joint contribution to reproductive fitness is essential for predicting biological responses to global change.

Molecular IgE Reactivity Profiling With Micro‐Arrayed Allergens Reveals Distinct Interregional Patterns of Sensitization and a Hypoallergenic Region in Türkiye

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
A prospective, systematic and cross‐sectional population study was performed involving 1000 adult subjects from five centers representing different climatic areas of Türkiye (Turkey). Molecular IgE profiling demonstrated substantial interregional variation and identified a hypoallergenic region in the easternmost area with a continental climate.

Living by the lake: Plant food diversity in a prehistoric lake‐dwelling community in the Republic of North Macedonia

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper explores the relationship between wetland ecosystems and prehistoric lakeshore settlements within the Lake Ohrid basin (a biodiversity hotspot) by considering plant food systems at Ploča Mičov Grad, North Macedonia. The mid‐fifth millennium (c.4555–4373 to 4437–4241 cal BCE) waterlogged assemblage contained a diverse spectrum of ...
