Solar panels as cosmic ray detectors [PDF]
Due to fundamental limitations of accelerators, only cosmic rays can give access to centre-ofmass energies more than one order of magnitude above those reached at the LHC. In fact, extreme energy cosmic rays (1018 eV 1020 eV) are the only possibility to explore the 100 TeV energy scale in the years to come.

A deep learning-based reconstruction of cosmic ray-induced air showers [PDF]
We describe a method of reconstructing air showers induced by cosmic rays using deep learning techniques. We simulate an observatory consisting of ground-based particle detectors with fixed locations on a regular grid.

The application of the transfer learning algorithm successfully allowed the use of a model built on process A for real‐time monitoring of process B. This study shows the improvement obtained with this methodology compared to the direct application of the model.

A new modular cosmic-ray detector
Comparing the mean features of helium proportional counters with the ones of the standard boron trifluoride tubes, it appears at glance that, in equal term of efficiency and for the same active length, the 3He filled counters are characterized by a very smaller diameter which optimizes their spectral resolution and minimizes wall effects.

GEANT4 Simulation of a Cosmic Ray Muon Tomography System With Micro-Pattern Gas Detectors for the Detection of High-${\rm Z}$ Materials [PDF]
Muon tomography (MT) based on the measurement of multiple scattering of atmospheric cosmic ray muons traversing shipping containers is a promising candidate for identifying threatening high-Z materials.

Bioactive Magnesium Silicate Activating Myocardial Energy Metabolism For Infarcted Myocardium Repair
ABSTRACT The heart is a highly energy‐dependent organ, developing bioenergy‐activating biomaterials to activate myocardial adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production and restore dysregulated energy homeostasis is a promising solution for its functional recovery.

Atmospheric Muons as IceCube Signal
Muons of energies above 1 TeV produced in cosmic ray induced air showers account for the vast majority of events in IceCube. Its enormous size compared to previous volume detectors translates into an unprecedented amount of statistics for high-energy ...

A Scintillator and Radio Enhancement of the IceCube Surface Detector Array [PDF]
An upgrade of the present IceCube surface array (IceTop) with scintillation detectors and possibly radio antennas is foreseen. The enhanced array will calibrate the impact of snow accumulation on the reconstruction of cosmic-ray showers detected by ...
