The cosmic gamma-ray detector

Astronomical & Astrophysical Transactions, 2003
In this paper a compact large solid-angle photodetection system is proposed. This system was designed to measure spectrum of the gamma-ray bursts in the range from 20 MeV to 10 GeV with a resolution from 2 to 150 MeV.

Detectors of Cosmic Rays, Gamma Rays, and Neutrinos

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
We summarize the main features, properties and performances of the typical detectors in use in Cosmic Ray Physics. A brief historical and general introduction will focus on the main classes and requirements of such detectors.

NINA: a silicon detector for cosmic-ray astrophysics

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2001
Abstract The NINA apparatus, on board the satellite Resurs-01 n.4, has been orbiting the Earth since July 10th, 1998, in polar revolution at 1 AU. Its scientific goal is the study of the galactic, solar and anomalous components of the cosmic rays in the range 10–200 MeV/n.

Cosmic ray physics with the ALEPH detector

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2000
Abstract ALEPH is one of the four detectors at the Large Electron–Positron Collider (LEP) at a depth of about 320 m.w.e. Its hadron calorimeter and scintillator arrays installed at distances up to about 1 km away from ALEPH are used to measure cosmic muon induced time coincidences over large distances.

Detectors/Dosemeters of galactic and solar cosmic rays

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2004
Different passive multidetector stacks have been developed at the Italian National Agency for Environmental Protection (ANPA-stack), which makes it possible to measure directly ionising radiations, low-energy and high-energy neutrons, and high-energy charged (HZE) particles.

Commissionning of the CMS Pixel detector with Cosmic Rays

Astroparticle, Particle and Space Physics, Detectors and Medical Physics Applications, 2010
Abstract: This article summarizes the work done on the CMS pixel detector during the cosmic data taking period of 2008. It explains some calibration procedures and shows results of cosmic ray analysis.

A detector system for cosmic ray electrons

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1970
Abstract The construction, operation and calibration of a balloon-borne counter telescope is described. The instrument is designed for a measurement of cosmic ray electrons in the energy range from 15 MeV to 15 GeV. Results of calibrations on electron accelerators for energies between 10 MeV and 6 GeV are compared with predictions from shower theory.

Cosmic ray test for a T0 detector

Chinese Physics C, 2011
The endcap of time-of-flight (ETOF) detector in BES (Beijing Spectrometer) III is planned to be upgraded by using multi-gap resistive plate chambers (MRPCs) and the designed time resolution of the MRPCs is around 50 ps. Thus a time-zero (T0) detector needs to be built to offer a high quality reference time for the MRPCs beam test.

Detectors of Ultraheavy Cosmic Rays

1983
Ultraheavy cosmic rays have been measured by both passive and electronic detectors. These detectors are reviewed, and the requirements are given for a detector to make the next major step in this area.
