Brane-world cosmology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Brane-world models, where observers are restricted to a brane in a higher-dimensional spacetime, offer a novel perspective on cosmology. I discuss some approaches to cosmology in extra dimensions and some interesting aspects of gravity and cosmology in ...

DECOHERENCE IN QUANTUM COSMOLOGY AND THE COSMOLOGICAL CONSTANT [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 2013
We discuss a spacetime having the topology of S3×ℝ but with a different smoothness structure. The initial state of the cosmos in our model is identified with a wildly embedded 3-sphere (or a fractal space). In previous work we showed that a wild embedding is obtained by a quantization of a usual (or tame) embedding.

Testing loop quantum cosmology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Loop quantum cosmology predicts that quantum gravity effects resolve the big-bang singularity and replace it by a cosmic bounce. Furthermore, loop quantum cosmology can also modify the form of primordial cosmological perturbations, for example by ...

Emergent cosmology from matrix theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
Matrix theory is a proposed non-perturbative definition of superstring theory in which space is emergent. We begin a study of cosmology in the context of matrix theory.

Topics in Cosmology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
These lectures present a brief review of inflationary cosmology, provide an overview of the theory of cosmological perturbations, and then focus on the conceptual problems of the current paradigm of early universe cosmology, thus motivating an ...

From Reductionism to Contextualism: L. Wittgenstein and the Dimensions of Modern Cosmology [PDF]

open access: yesФилософия и космология
This article offers a consideration of potential ways to apply the methodology of the philosophy of everyday language to solve modern problems of cosmology and the philosophy of cosmology. Modern cosmology emerges as an independent scientific discipline,

Precision cosmology, Accuracy cosmology and Statistical cosmology [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2014
AbstractThe avalanche of data over the past 10-20 years has propelled cosmology into the “precision era”. The next challenge cosmology has to meet is to enter the era of accuracy. Because of the intrinsic nature of studying the Cosmos and the sheer amount of data available now and coming soon, the only way to meet this challenge is by developing ...

When misinterpreting the Bible becomes a habit

open access: yesHTS Teologiese Studies/Theological Studies, 2018
Ancient Near Eastern (ANE) texts should be interpreted against the background of the magico-mythical cosmology of their time, and the Bible is no exception.

Evolution of cosmological horizons of wormhole cosmology [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics D, 2020
Recently, we solved Einstein’s field equations to obtain the exact solution of the cosmological model with the Morris–Thorne-type wormhole. We found the apparent horizons and analyzed their geometric natures, including the causal structures. We also derived the Hawking temperature near the apparent cosmological horizon.
