Cotton leaf curl Multan virus infecting Hibiscus sabdariffa in China
Canadian Journal of Plant Pathology, 2017Cotton leaf curl Multan virus (CLCuMuV), in conjunction with cotton leaf curl Multan betasatellite (CLCuMuB), causes cotton leaf curl disease in South Asia. CLCuMuV-CLCuMuB was first found in 2006 to be associated with a leaf curl disease of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis in China. Recently, CLCuMuV-CLCuMuB has become prevalent in H.

Betasatellites are single-stranded circular DNAs associated with a number of monopartite begomoviruses. Betasatellites rely on the helper begomoviruses for replication and movement in plant tissues and plant-to-plant transmission by vectors. Their genomes are approximately half the size of the helper viruses and consist of three main regions including ...

Virus isolate G6 was obtained from Hibiscus rosa-sinensis showing yellow and leaf curl symptoms in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. The complete nucleotide sequence of DNA-A was determined to be 2 737 nucleotides encoding six potential ORFs. Comparison showed that G6 DNA-A had more than 89% sequence identify with all isolates of Cotton leaf curl Multan ...
