Níveis de proteína bruta e energia metabolizável em uma linhagem de codorna de corte =Protein and metabolizable energy on a meat quail line [PDF]

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2012
O objetivo deste trabalho foi estabelecer os níveis de proteína bruta e energia metabolizável para melhor desempenho em ganho de peso, peso corporal, consumo de ração e conversão alimentar em codornas de corte.

Estimation of growth parameters of body weight and body nutrient deposition in males and females of meat- and laying-type quail using the Gompertz model

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2018
The objective of this study was to estimate the growth parameters of body weight and body nutrient deposition in males and females of one meat- (Coturnix coturnix coturnix) and two laying-type quail strains (Coturnix coturnix japonica), designated either

Courtship display behavior influences tail myology in Centrocercus minimus (Gunnison sage‐grouse)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Courtship displays among birds are widespread, particularly those which incorporate raised tail feathers for extended periods of time. The Gunnison sage‐grouse (Centrocercus minimus) is such a species. When we compared the tail muscles of the sage‐grouse to birds which do not engage in erected tail fan postures, both morphology proportional mass ...

The effect of static incubation on the yolk sac vasculature of the Japanese quail (Coturnix c. japonica) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Static incubation affects early embryonic development with, notably, a reduction area vasculosa expansion and diminished sub-embryonic fluid (SEF) volume, effects produced during a ‘critical’ period (3-7 days in the chick) (Baggott et al., 2002).

Elevation, rather than land use, causes important dietary shifts in the Mediterranean golden eagle

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
In an ever‐changing landscape, golden eagles in the Iberian Peninsula demonstrate remarkable dietary adaptability. We monitored 50 distinct breeding events over 4 years using camera traps, collecting over 520 000 images. Elevation, rather than land use, emerged as the main driver of prey composition: lagomorphs and columbiforms dominated at lower ...

Seroprevalence and Risk Analysis of Toxoplasma Gondii in Wild Birds of District Lahore Punjab, Pakistan

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
This study found that over 10% of wild birds in Lahore, Pakistan, carry antibodies for Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite that can cause serious illness in humans and animals. Birds like lapwings and silver bills showed especially high antibody rates. Improved monitoring is needed to better understand risk dynamics in Pakistan.

Spatial Orientation in Japanese Quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica)

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Finding a given location can be based on a variety of strategies, for example on the estimation of spatial relations between landmarks, called spatial orientation. In galliform birds, spatial orientation has been demonstrated convincingly in very young domestic chicks. We wanted to know whether adult Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) without

The Supplementation of Different Levels of Moringa oleifera Leaf Powder in Diet and Its Effect on Growth Performance, Carcass, Meat and Skin Quality Traits in Japanese Quails

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
This study investigated the dietary supplementation of different levels of Moringa oleifera leaf powder and its effect on growth performance, carcass and meat quality traits in Japanese quails. Dietary supplementation of Moringa oleifera leaf powder improved body weight of quails at 2 weeks of age; however, it did not affect the carcass, skin and meat ...
