Animal Behaviour, 1970Abstract Isolated coturnix quail of two post-hatch ages were individually exposed to a moving, flashing, clicking stimulus on the day of hatching. Two other groups received identical treatment except for exposure to the stimulus, and a fifth group was given no initial treatment.
