Sensitivity of Coulomb Stress Change to the Parameters of the Coulomb Failure Model: A Case Study Using the 2008 Mw 7.9 Wenchuan Earthquake

open access: yes
The Coulomb stress change has been widely employed to interpret mainshock-mainshock and mainshock-aftershock triggering as well as interactions amongst earthquake faults and volcanoes.

Beyond Electrostatics: Anion‐π+ Orbital Hybridization Underpins High‐Performance Chloride Storage in Poly(arylamine) Organic Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The fundamental nature of anion storage in p‐type organic cathodes is elucidated using rigid poly(arylamine) frameworks. This study reveals a hybrid covalent‐ionic mechanism for anion‐π+ interactions, driven by synergistic orbital hybridization and electrostatic attraction.

Thermoporoelastic stress perturbations from hydraulic fracturing and thermal depletion in enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) and implications for fault reactivation and seismicity

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
Hydraulic fracturing then fluid circulation in enhanced geothermal system (EGS) reservoirs have been shown to induce seismicity remote from the stimulation – potentially generated by the distal projection of thermoporoelastic stresses.

A Disaggregation Strategy for Nanopesticide Fabrication: Investigating the Impact of Nanosizing on Pesticide Biointeractions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To explore the impact of nanosizing on pesticide biointeractions, a 7‐nm (average) emamectin benzoate nanopesticide without nanocarriers or surfactants is fabricated via HOAc‐mediated disaggregation. Nanosizing enhances bioactivity against Megalurothrips usitatus and Meloidogyne enterolobii and improves plant penetration.

Coseismic deformation and fault slip distribution of the 2023 MW7.8 and MW7.6 earthquakes in TürkiyeKey points

open access: yesEarthquake Science
On February 6, 2023, a devastating earthquake with a moment magnitude of MW7.8 struck the town of Pazarcik in south-central Türkiye, followed by another powerful earthquake with a moment magnitude of MW7.6 that struck the nearby city of Elbistan 9 h ...

Unconventional Hysteretic Charge Filling in Moiré‐Reconstructed Helical Trilayer Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In helical trilayer graphene, sequential twisting reconstructs the moiré landscape into periodic domains separated by aperiodic boundaries. Longitudinal transport reveals sweep‐direction‐dependent hysteresis, while the Hall response traces this behavior to hysteretic charge filling at the aperiodic boundaries.
