The Stress Triggering of Aftershocks by Badong M5.1 Mainshock from Coulomb Stress Changes

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
TheCoulomb stress changes are usually adopted to make analysis on faultinteractions and stress triggering. This paper mainly deals with Coulomb stresschange of mainshock and affect on aftershocks. We preliminarily conclude thatthe mainshock produce Coulomb stress change on aftershocks most behavingpositive and triggered them.

Coulomb stress changes and its correlation with aftershocks of recent Iranian reverse earthquakes

Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2014
In order to investigate the possibility of forecasting aftershock distribution of the Iranian earthquakes, three strong earthquakes from the past 10 years were selected to calculate Coulomb stress changes and its correlation with the aftershock distribution. The common point of these earthquakes is their reverse focal mechanisms.

Effects of Coulomb stress change on M > 6 earthquakes in the Caucasus region

Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 2019
Abstract Coulomb stress variations may trigger earthquakes, while the stress transfer process is not clear. In this paper, Coulomb stress changes are investigated for the sequences of strong earthquakes in the Caucasus region, which followed the 1988 Mw6.8 in Spitak, the 1991 Mw6.9 in Racha and the 2000 Mw6.2 in Baku.

Coulomb stress changes due to main earthquakes in Southeast Iran during 1981 to 2011

Journal of Seismology, 2018
Southeast of Iran experienced eight destructive earthquakes during 30 years from 1981 to 2011. Six of these events with M > 6.5 were fatal and caused great human and financial losses in the region. The 1981 July 28 (Mw 7.2) Sirch earthquake with 65 km surface rupture was the largest event in this region since 1877 and with other three earthquakes ...

Modelling of Coulomb stress changes during the great (Mw = 8.8) 1906 Colombia-Ecuador earthquake

Journal of South American Earth Sciences, 2016
Abstract Six alternative models of slip distribution during the 1906 Esmeraldas (Mw = 8.8) megathrust earthquake are used to compute Coulomb stress changes on two types of specific faults and onto optimal strike-slipe faults along the Colombia-Ecuador Pacific region.

Coulomb stress change due to 2005 Kashmir earthquake and implications for future seismic hazards

Journal of Seismology, 2008
We calculate static stress change due to the 2005 Kashmir earthquake (M = 7.6). We suggest that the earthquake caused significant increase in stress in the Indo-Kohistan seismic zone (IKSZ) region, lying to the NW of the rupture and moderate increase in the adjacent Himalayan region, lying to the SE of rupture.
