Counterflow spray combustion modeling

Combustion and Flame, 1989
A fuel spray planar counterflow flame has been modeled by means of a low-Mach-number boundary layer approach. The model considers density variations and full coupling between the two phases by means of a hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian formulation, with droplet drag and vaporization.

Development of colliding swirling counterflows

Physical Review E, 2011
This numerical study of the axisymmetric motion of a viscous incompressible fluid in an elongated cylindrical container explains how colliding counterflows develop. Two swirling flows enter the container through peripheral inlets and leave it through central exhausts symmetrically from both ends.

Counterflow diffusion flames

Progress in Energy and Combustion Science, 1982
Abstract Laminar counterflow diffusion flames are generally referred to as the pure diffusion flame. This paper reviews experimental studies of these counterflow diffusion flames and presents a detailed summary of our present understanding of them.

Counterflow heptane flame structure

Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2000
Results are reported for thermocouple and gas-chromatographic measurements of profiles of temperature and of concentrations of C 7 H 16 , C 5 H 10 , C 4 H 8 , C 4 H 6 , C 3 H 6 , C 2 H 6 , C 2 H 4 , C 2 H 2 , CH 4 , CO, and CO 2 in two laminar counterflow n -heptane flames having measured flame temperature of 2100 K, at an oxidizerside potential-flow

Counterflows

2012
This book discusses the physical mechanisms that drive counterflows, examining how they emerge, develop, become double and multiple counterflows and comprise both global and local circulations. Counterflows play an important role in nature and technology. A natural example is the Gulf Stream and the opposite flow in the ocean depths.

Nonequilibrium counterflow capillary impregnation

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1987
A model of capillary impregnation, taking account of disequilibrium of the phase permeabilities, is constructed on the basis of a general scheme of nonequilibrium two-phase filtration proposed in [3]; see also [2].

Non-stalling counterflow architecture

Proceedings 1998 Fourth International Symposium on High-Performance Computer Architecture, 1998
The counterflow pipeline concept was originated by Sproull et al.(1994) to demonstrate the concept of asynchronous circuits. This architecture relies on distributed decision making and localized clocking and data movement. We have taken these ideas and reformulated them into a substantially faster more scalable architecture that has the same ...

Counterflow pulse-tube refrigerators

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2002
The regenerators in standard pulse-tube refrigerators are large, heavy, expensive, and are a source of losses. In this contribution we avoid using regenerators by combining two pulse-tube refrigerators which operate in opposite phase. The regenerators are replaced by a counterflow heat exchanger.

A counterflow pipeline experiment

Proceedings. Fifth International Symposium on Advanced Research in Asynchronous Circuits and Systems, 2003
The counterflow pipeline architecture consists of two interacting pipelines in which data items flow in opposite directions. Interactions occur between two items when they meet in a stage. We present the design decisions for, and test measurements from, an asynchronous chip that explores the basic ideas of such an architecture.
