Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Mathematical modelling of couple stress fluid flow around a semi-permeable sphere enclosing a solid core [PDF]

open access: yes
The focus of this article is to study theoretically the steady-axisymmetric creeping flow dynamics of a couple stress fluid external to a semi-permeable sphere containing a solid core.

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

Inertia Effects in a Multilobe Conical Bearing Lubricated with a Couple Stress Fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, a multilobe conical bearing is analyzed. A lubricant modelled by a couple stress fluid flows in the bearing clearance. The Galerkin method is used to determine the mechanical parameters of multilobe journal bearings.

The heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HAT) of the SLC7/SLC3 family: A structure−function relationships and relevance to human pathology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

On state-space elastostatics within a plane stress sectorial domain: the wedge and the curved beam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The plane stress sectorial domain is analysed according to a state-space formulation of the linear theory of elasticity. When loading is applied to the straight radial edges (flanks), with the circular arcs free of traction, one has the curved beam; when

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

Nonlinear deformation of end-supported nanorods based on consistent couple stress and surface elasticity theories

open access: yesNano Express
Established findings in nanostructure mechanics have highlighted the limitations of classical continuum theories in predicting mechanical behavior at the nanoscale, particularly for nanostructures like nanorods and nanowires used in nanoelectromechanical

NEURINGER-ROSEINWEIG MODEL BASED LONGITUDINALLY ROUGH POROUS CIRCULAR STEPPED PLATES IN THE EXISTENCE OF COUPLE STRESS

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2020
This study intents to scrutinize the impact of ferrofluid in the presence of couple stress for longitudinally rough porous circular stepped plates. The influence of longitudinal surface roughness is developed using the stochastic model of Christensen and

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.
