Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

Protonophore activity of short‐chain fatty acids induces their intracellular accumulation and acidification

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The protonated form of butyrate, as well as other short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), is membrane permeable. In acidic extracellular environments, this can lead to intracellular accumulation of SCFAs and cytosolic acidification. This phenomenon will be particularly relevant in acidic environments such as the large intestine or tumor microenvironments ...

Steady-state stabilization due to random delays in maps with self-feedback loops and in globally delayed-coupled maps

open access: yes, 2005
We study the stability of the fixed-point solution of an array of mutually coupled logistic maps, focusing on the influence of the delay times, $\tau_{ij}$, of the interaction between the $i$th and $j$th maps. Two of us recently reported [Phys. Rev. Lett.

An Illusion: “A Suzuki Type Coupled Fixed Point Theorem”

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We admonish to be careful on studying coupled fixed point theorems since most of the reported fixed point results can be easily derived from the existing corresponding theorems in the literature. In particular, we notice that the recent paper [Semwal and

FG-coupled fixed point theorems for contractive and generalized quasi-contractive mappings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In this paper we prove FG-coupled fixed point theorems for different contractive mappings and generalized quasi- contractive mappings in partially ordered complete metric spaces. We prove the existence of FG-coupled fixed points of continuous as well as discontinuous mappings. We give some examples to illustrate the results.

A stepwise emergence of evolution in the RNA world

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How did biological evolution emerge from chemical reactions? This perspective proposes a gradual scenario of self‐organization among RNA molecules, where catalytic feedback on random mixtures plays the central role. Short oligomers cross‐ligate, and self‐assembly enables heritable variations. An event of template‐externalization marks the transition to

Infrared stability of ABJ-like theories

open access: yes, 2009
We consider marginal deformations of the superconformal ABJM/ABJ models which preserve N=2 supersymmetry. We determine perturbatively the spectrum of fixed points and study their infrared stability.

Modifications in FLAP's second cytosolic loop influence 5‐LOX interaction, inhibitor binding, and leukotriene formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The enzyme 5‐lipoxygenase (5‐LOX) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes (LTs) involved in inflammatory pathophysiology. After cellular stimulation, 5‐LOX translocates to the nucleus, interacting with the 5‐LOX‐activating protein (FLAP) to form LTA4 from arachidonic acid (AA).

More CFTs and RG Flows from Deforming M2/M5-Brane Horizon

open access: yes, 1999
Near-horizon geometry of coincident M2-branes at a conical singularity is related to M-theory on AdS4 times an appropriate seven-dimensional manifold X7.

Fixed Point Structure for 3 dimensional rigid string [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1993
We show that the usual fixed point for 3-d rigid string with topological term appears to be a trivial one, consisting of two decoupled conformal field theories. We further argue that by involving an additional term allowed by symmetries and thus generated by RG, the theory appears to exhibit a new fixed point with expected symmetriy.
