Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A Robust 43-GHz VCO in CMOS for OC-768 SONET Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper, we present a 43-GHz LC-VCO in 0.13-/spl mu/m CMOS for use in SONET OC-768 optical networks. A tuned output buffer is used to provide 1.3 V/sub p-p/ (single-ended) into a 90-fF capacitive load as is required when the VCO is used in typical ...

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

High Efficiency and Voltage Conversion Ratio Bidirectional Isolated DC-DC Converter for Energy Storage System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
This paper proposes a high efficiency and conversion ratio bidirectional isolated DC-DC converter with three-winding coupled inductor, which can fulfil storage system charging and discharging. The proposed topology is improved from traditional Buck-Boost

Model Order Reduction of Non-Linear Magnetostatic Problems Based on POD and DEI Methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the domain of numerical computation, Model Order Reduction approaches are more and more frequently applied in mechanics and have shown their efficiency in terms of reduction of computation time and memory storage requirements. One of these approaches,

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Hybrid Switched Capacitor Three Winding Coupled Inductor High Step-Up DC-DC Converter

open access: yesIEEE Access
Switched capacitor cells have been studied in recent years. These approaches allow different new topologies to be generated. One such technique is the hybrid converter, where a coupled inductor and switched capacitor can be combined. Thus, in this paper,

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...
