Regional coupled land surface-hydrologic simulation fully coupled with reservoir network scheme

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2021
China has a very large number of reservoirs, and the operation of high-density reservoir networks impacts the terrestrial water cycle and the land-atmosphere moisture and energy exchange, which brings challenges to the understanding of hydrological ...

Electro-vortex flow simulation using coupled meshes

open access: yes, 2018
A numerical model for simulating electro-vortical flows in OpenFOAM is developed. Electric potential and current are solved in coupled solid-liquid conductors by a parent-child mesh technique.

Parametric Shape and Manufacturing Optimization of Customized Kitesurf Hydrofoils

open access: yesProceedings, 2020
To minimize the costs of the current manufacturing of kitesurf hydrofoil wings, a workflow using a finite elements model was developed. By coupling a computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analysis with a structural finite element analysis (FEA), an ...

Desynchronization of pulse-coupled oscillators with delayed excitatory coupling

open access: yes, 2007
Collective behavior of pulse-coupled oscillators has been investigated widely. As an example of pulse-coupled networks, fireflies display many kinds of flashing patterns.

Analysis of the influence of container structure on the flow characteristics of vertical vibration polishing granular media

open access: yesJin'gangshi yu moliao moju gongcheng
In order to explore the impact of container structure on the motion characteristics of granular media in vertical vibrating grinding equipment, ADAMS-EDEM coupling simulation was used to simulate the motion characteristics of granular media during the ...

Inherent Mach-Zehnder interference with "which-way" detection for single particle scattering in one dimension

open access: yes, 2011
We study the coherent transport of single photon in a one-dimensional coupled-resonator-array, "non-locally" coupled to a two-level system. Since its inherent structure is a Mach-Zehnder interferometer, we explain the destructive interference phenomenon ...

Comparative Analysis of Design Standards for Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Mooring Systems: A Focus on Line Tension Safety Factors

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The present study aims to conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis of international standards (DNV, ABS, BV, etc.) that regulate the design of mooring systems for floating offshore wind turbines. The comparative analysis focuses on the safety factors

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Coupled continuum hydrodynamics and molecular dynamics method for multiscale simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present a new hybrid methodology for carrying out multiscale simulations of flow problems lying between continuum hydrodynamics and molecular dynamics, where macro/micro lengthscale separation exists only in one direction.
