Theory of free space coupling to high-Q whispering gallery modes

open access: yes, 2012
A theoretical study of free space coupling to high-Q whispering gallery modes both in circular and deformed microcavities are presented. In the case of a circular cavity, both analytical solutions and asymptotic formulas are derived.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Efficient slow light coupling into photonic crystals

open access: yesOptics Express, 2007
We study light coupling between two photonic crystal wave-guides, one of which supports slow light. We show theoretically that a short photonic crystal waveguide between the two that need to be coupled, can lead to a vanishingly small reflectivity. The design relies on the analogy with a lambda/4 anti-reflection layer in thin-film optics. We find that ...

High-efficiency spot size converter for photonic crystal fiber-to-waveguide using composite waveguide structures

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
This paper presents the design of a high-efficiency spot size converter (SSC) for photonic crystal fiber (PCF) to silicon-based waveguides, utilizing composite optical waveguide structures.

Coupling Quantum Emitters in WSe2 Monolayers to a Metal-Insulator-Metal Waveguide

open access: yes, 2018
Coupling single photon emitters to surface plasmons provides a versatile ground for on chip quantum photonics. However, achieving good coupling efficiency requires precise alignment of both the position and dipole orientation of the emitter relative to ...

Phonon-Plasmon Interaction in Metal-Insulator-Metal Localized Surface Plasmon Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate theoretically and numerically the coupling between elastic and localized surface plasmon modes in a system of gold nanocylinders separated from a thin gold film by a dielectric spacer of few nanometers thickness.
