Length Analyses of Mammalian G-protein-coupled Receptors
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2001G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) play a crucial role in mediating effects of extracellular messengers in a wide variety of biological systems, comprising the largest gene superfamily at least in mammals. Mammalian GPCRs are broadly classified into three families based on pharmacological properties and sequence similarities.

On the performance of fixed-length spatially coupled LDPC code
2016 IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting (BMSB), 2016This paper evaluates the rate loss of fixed-length spatially-coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) code compared to the asymptotic performance of such code. In previous works, SC-LDPC with sufficient length of codeword shows excellent asymptotic performance and attracts a lot of attentions.

Extended Length Heterobifunctional Coupling Agents for Protein Conjugations
Bioconjugate Chemistry, 1996A series of extended length heterobifunctional coupling agents is described. The successive aminocaproic acid homologation of succinimidyl 4-(N-maleimidomethyl)cyclohexane-1-carboxylate, a known 9-atom long maleimide active ester linker, yielded 16-, 23-, and 30-atom long maleimide active ester homologues. The performance study of these coupling agents

Multiple coupling length nonlinear directional couplers with variable coupling coefficient
Optics Communications, 2003Multiple coupling length nonlinear directional couplers (NLDCs) with variable coupling coefficient (VCC) are investigated. As examples, two kinds of VCC NLDCs, exponential and Gaussian VCC NLDCs, are numerically simulated. Both couplers show multiple-switching feature and have eminent digital switching characteristic. In addition, the Gaussian VCC NLDC

Optimum coupling junction and cavity lengths for coupled-cavity semiconductor lasers
Journal of Applied Physics, 1985In this paper we investigate the dependence of the mode suppression in coupled-cavity semiconductor lasers on coupling junction parameters and cavity lengths. An effective mirror formalism is developed and combined with exact numerical analysis to explore the mode behavior across the entire relative cavity gain operating range of coupled-cavity ...

Coupling length and coupling loss in AlGaAs photonic crystal waveguides
Journal of Optics, 2016In this work, we present the theoretical simulation results of a two parallel plasmonic waveguides structure with same geometries. There is a low-index semiconductor AlGaAs layer between the GaAs layer and the metal layer. The coupling length and coupling loss are calculated at the telecom wavelength (1550 nm) for different structures by employing the ...

System Benefits of Coupled-Core Multicore Fibers with Different Coupling Lengths
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2018We study the impact of the linear coupling length and the number of cores on the nonlinear benefit of the coupled-core multicore fiber having up to 19 cores. Coupling lengths as short as a few meters improves transmission.

Concurrent coupling of length scales: Methodology and application
Physical Review B, 1999A strategic objective of computational materials physics is the accurate description of specific materials on length scales approaching the meso and macroscopic. We report on progress towards this goal by describing a seamless coupling of continuum to statistical to quantum mechanics, involving an algorithm, implemented on a parallel computer, for ...

Ferrite coupled-line circulator with reduced length
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2005A method to design a circulator based on a ferrite coupled line (FCL) with reduced length is presented. This is achieved by appropriate matching networks. Using ferrite perturbation theory, we derive closed-form expressions for the required matching impedances and the resulting bandwidth of the matched device. Based on this analysis, a realistic design

Theory of mode-coupling in the length-modulated laser
1967 International Electron Devices Meeting, 1967Laser mode coupling induced by internal time-varying perturbation of the optical cavity has been the object of much interest in recent years. It has been shown also that a laser can be phase locked by moving one of its mirrors at a frequency near the axial made interval.
