Analysis of Mode Characteristics in Semiconductor Lasers With Asymmetric Coupled Cavities Based on Quasi Parity-Time

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
This study presents a novel asymmetrically coupled cavity (ACC) semiconductor laser structure designed to achieve stable single-mode operation in wider ridge waveguides, enhancing output power.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Using Hermite Expansions for Fast and Arbitrarily Accurate Computation of the Expected Loss of a Loan Portfolio Tranche in the Gaussian Factor Model [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose a fast algorithm for computing the expected tranche loss in the Gaussian factor model with arbitrary accuracy using Hermite expansions. No assumptions about homogeneity of the portfolio are made.

Design and Parameter Optimization of a Rigid–Flexible Coupled Rod Tooth Threshing Device for Ratoon Rice Based on MBD-DEM

open access: yesAgriculture
To solve the problem of the high loss rate of threshing devices during the mechanical harvesting of ratoon rice, we propose a method using the principle of rigid–flexible coupling in this paper to reduce losses.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

A simplified way to manufacture high-Q microfiber coil resonators by controlling the input/output coupling

open access: yes, 2007
The dependence of the Q-factor of the microfiber coil resonator on different input/output couplings is investigated and compared. A method of slowly varying input/output coupling is presented to considerably simplify the fabrication of high-Q ...

A Transfer Function Method to Predict Transportation-Induced Building Vibration on Saturated Soil

open access: yesBuildings
Building vibration induced by running trains or other loads is related to soil vibration, building coupling loss, and the building floor’s amplification factor.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

齿轮箱振动噪声预测的统计能量分析方法研究

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2013
Considering the gearbox with an external fluid coupling, the statistical energy model is introduced based on the basic principles of statistical energy analysis. The time-varying mesh stiffness and errors are also taken into accout in calculation of ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.
