The odd couple: signal transduction and endocytosis

Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences (CMLS), 2003
Cell surface receptors are used to transmit extracellular information. The activation of cell surface receptors initiates signal transduction and receptor endocytosis. Signal transduction and the endosomal transport of activated receptors require precise regulation.

The contribution of astrocyte signalling to neurovascular coupling

Brain Research Reviews, 2010
The tight spatial and temporal coupling between neuronal activity and blood flow ensures that active brain regions receive an adequate supply of oxygen and energetic metabolites. There clearly is still an enormous amount of experimental and theoretical work to be done to unravel the precise mechanism of neurovascular coupling, but over the last decade ...

Signal processing with charge-coupled devices

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1978
The purpose of this paper is to discuss applications of charge-coupled devices in signal processing systems. Both analog and digital CCD concepts are considered. Recent developments in high-speed (∼100 MHz) CCD's are discussed, and the uses of high-speed CCD and surface-acoustic wave (SAW) devices together are considered.

Lck couples Shc to TCR signaling

Cellular Signalling, 2006
Recent genetic evidence demonstrated that Shc is a critical molecule for T cell activation and differentiation. However, how Shc is coupled to the T cell antigen receptor (TCR) has not been clearly characterized. Here we report that the tyrosine kinase Lck functions as a connecting molecule for TCR and Shc.

Receptor Coupling to Phosphoinositide Signals

1992
A number of neurotransmitters have been shown to activate phospholipase C (PLC) through a G protein and/or Ca2+ pathway resulting in hydrolysis of membrane phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate [PtdIns(4,5)P2], leading to the formation of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate [Ins(l,4,5)P3] and diacylglycerol (DAG).

Coupling detrended fluctuation analysis for analyzing coupled nonstationary signals

Physical Review E, 2011
When many variables are coupled to each other, a single case study could not give us thorough and precise information. When these time series are stationary, different methods of random matrix analysis and complex networks can be used. But, in nonstationary cases, the multifractal-detrended-cross-correlation-analysis (MF-DXA) method was introduced for ...

Activation of Pyk2 by Stress Signals and Coupling with JNK Signaling Pathway

Science, 1996
The c-Jun amino-terminal kinase (JNK) is activated by various heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding protein (G protein)-coupled receptors, inflammatory cytokines, and stress signals. Yet, upstream mediators that link extracellular signals with the JNK signaling pathway are currently unknown.

Sensitive Electrochemical Aptasensor by Coupling “Signal-on’’ and “Signal-off’’ Strategies

Analytical Chemistry, 2013
A simple electrochemical aptasensor for sensitive and selective determination of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) has been developed on the basis of a new dual-signaling amplification strategy. This aptasensor features both ''signal-on'' and ''signal-off'' elements. The ferrocene (Fc)-labeled aptamer probe (Fc-P) is designed to hybridize with the thiolated

NKG2D signaling is coupled to the interleukin 15 receptor signaling pathway

Nature Immunology, 2007
The effector functions of natural killer cells are regulated by activating receptors, which recognize stress-inducible ligands expressed on target cells and signal through association with signaling adaptors. Here we developed a mouse model in which a fusion of the signaling adaptor DAP10 and ubiquitin efficiently downregulated expression of the ...

Coupled systems for signal processing

IEE Proceedings F Radar and Signal Processing, 1990
Several signal analysis systems reported in the literature have benefited from the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and signal processing. This paper examines a growing class of these systems in which the AI component is used to control signal-processing operations.
