Signal splitter by nonlocal coupling

CLEO/Europe - EQEC 2009 - European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the European Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
A great attention has been devoted recently to the role of temporal delay on the spectral, dynamical and stochastic properties of the light emitted by nonlinear devices with external feedback. In this work we consider the spatial analogous of temporal delay that is a two point nonlocality.

The optical coupling of analog signals

1995 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference Record, 1996
An opto-coupling circuit based on the Siemens IL300 linear optocoupler and the methods to assess its static and dynamic performances are presented. It is shown that IL300, due to its built-in linearizing feedback photodiode, makes it possible to build coupling schemes that associate good linearity with the inherent properties of optical devices, as ...

G-protein-coupled signaling in Arabidopsis

Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2002
With an essentially complete plant genome in hand, it is now possible to conclude that a single or possibly just two canonical heterotrimeric G-protein complexes are present in Arabidopsis. In stark contrast, more than one hundred such complexes are found in some metazoans.

Measuring mixed-signal substrate coupling

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2001
A measurement method is proposed to characterise the substrate coupling between digital and analog sections of a mixed signal CMOS chip. Induced noise and spurious signals are measured by a custom designed analog sensor. Calibrated sampling scope based measurements show the strength and drawbacks of the proposed approach.

Spatially Coupled Repeat-Accumulate Signal Codes

2019 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS), 2019
We propose spatially coupled repeat-accumulate codes (SC-RASC) as a new class of repeat-accumulate signal codes (RASC). Monte-Carlo density evolution analysis displays that SC-RASC can achieve about 0.3dB away from the channel capacity of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels.

Coupling numerical and symbolic methods for signal interpretation

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1991
A framework for a general signal interpretation system is presented. The structure allows for a collaboration between domain-dependent knowledge (acquired by human experts through years of experience in a specific area) and signal-analysis knowledge (the expertise needed to select and use signal-processing techniques for automated extraction of ...

Signal amplification in a lattice of coupled protein kinases

Molecular BioSystems, 2009
Abstract The bacterium Escherichia coli detects chemical attractants and repellents by means of a cluster of transmembrane receptors and associated molecules. Experiments have shown that this cluster amplifies the signal about 35-fold and current models attribute this amplification to cooperative interactions between neighbouring ...

G Protein-Coupled Receptor Dimerization and Signaling

2006
G protein-coupled receptors are involved in the regulation of many aspects of normal physiology and pathology. Recent research has broadened our view of how the cell transduces ligand binding to cellular responses. It is becoming clear that phenomena that take place both at the cell surface, such as receptor oligomerization, as well as intracellularly,

G protein-coupled receptors and proliferative signaling

2002
Publisher Summary The superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) plays a fundamental role in cellular communication. This chapter describes different techniques used to assay proliferative signaling by GPCRs. Advantages and disadvantages of these assays with respect to cost and throughput are described in the chapter.

On the Mutual Coupling Matrix in Array Signal Processing

2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2020
We discuss some of the issues associated with the Mutual Coupling Matrix (MCM) which is used extensively to model the antenna array manifold. We show that the MCM does not have the correct structure to provide an accurate mathematical model of the true array manifold.
