De la modélisation de l’activité humaine à la modélisation pour la simulation sociale : entre réalisme et fécondité technologique

open access: yesActivités, 2018
SMACH (Multi-Agent Human Activity Simulation) is a social simulation platform that is part of EDF’s Research and Development framework aimed at developing simulation to anticipate and reduce energy consumption in homes. In this paper, we develop the idea

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Sketching for military courses of action diagrams [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 8th international conference on Intelligent user interfaces, 2003
A serious barrier to the digitalization of the US military is that commanders find traditional mouse/menu, CAD-style interfaces unnatural. Military commanders develop and communicate battle plans by sketching courses of action (COAs). This paper describes nuSketch Battlespace, the latest version in an evolving line of sketching interfaces that ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A Course of Action

open access: yes, 2018
This was to be a talk given before the Portland State University, Impact Summit Pitch Fest in Portland, Oregon in early February 2018. Unfortunately, it was not picked. I fear the reason may be the subject matter: a future living with early warning systems, hardening human settlements, and giving survival options to people who want to stay in place as ...

The Best Course of Action

open access: yesCase Studies in Business and Management, 2019
This case describes the ethical and legal challenges facing Dr. Caroline Webster, Director of Graduate Business Programs at MNU.  She was facing one of the more unpleasant tasks of her job in determining how to proceed with a complaint by one of the university’s master’s students by the name of Bob Golden.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
