Anion–arene adducts: C–H hydrogen bonding, anion– interaction, and carbon bonding motifs [PDF]
This article summarizes experimental and theoretical evidence for the existence of four distinct binding modes for complexes of anions with charge-neutral arenes.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Superconductivity near a ferroelectric quantum critical point in ultralow-density Dirac materials
The experimental observation of superconductivity in doped semimetals and semiconductors, where the Fermi energy is comparable to or smaller than the characteristic phonon frequencies, is not captured by the conventional theory. In this paper, we propose

Role of covalent Fe-As bonding in the magnetic moment formation and exchange mechanisms in iron-pnictide superconductors [PDF]
The electronic origin of the huge magnetostructural effect in layered Fe-As compounds is elucidated using LiFeAs as a prototype. The crucial feature of these materials is the strong covalent bonding between Fe and As, which tends to suppress the exchange

Covalent and non‐covalent interaction of chymotrypsin with α2‐macroglobulin
The pattern of covalent crosslinking between human α2‐macroglobulin (α2M) and chymotrypsin has been investigated by chromatography and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in denaturing medium. Reaction with a single mol of chymotrypsin per mol α2M results in the formation of a 95% covalent 1:1 chymotrypsin‐α2M complex and in the proteolytic cleavage of ...

Molecular balances for quantifying non-covalent interactions [PDF]
Molecular interactions underlie the whole of chemistry and biology. This tutorial review illustrates the use of rotameric folding molecules, topoisomers, atropoisomers, and tautomers as molecular balances for quantifying non-covalent interactions.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
