The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Dynamic covalent epoxy network of hyperbranched-synergistic-supramolecular: Catalyst-free reprocessing, and application in carbon fiber composites recycling

open access: yesSupramolecular Materials
Plastic recycling, especially the recycling of thermosets, is a crucial step towards improving waste management and achieving economic recycling. Here, a method utilizing non-covalent supramolecular interactions and synergistic hyperbranched structures ...

Extension of the B3LYP - Dispersion-Correcting Potential Approach to the Accurate Treatment of both Inter- and Intramolecular Interactions

open access: yes, 2013
We recently showed that dispersion-correcting potentials (DCPs), atom-centered Gaussian-type functions developed for use with B3LYP (J. Phys. Chem. Lett.

Non-Covalent Interactions Mimic the Covalent: An Electrode-Orthogonal Self-Assembled Layer

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2023
Charge-transfer events central to energy conversion and storage and molecular sensing occur at electrified interfaces. Synthetic control over the interface is traditionally accessed through electrode-specific covalent tethering of molecules. Covalent linkages inherently limit the scope and the potential stability window of molecularly tunable ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Metal-Based Drug–DNA Interactions and Analytical Determination Methods

open access: yesMolecules
DNA structure has many potential places where endogenous compounds and xenobiotics can bind. Therefore, xenobiotics bind along the sites of the nucleic acid with the aim of changing its structure, its genetic message, and, implicitly, its functions ...

On the Role of Exchange Interaction in Magnetic Ordering and Conductivity of Manganites

open access: yes, 2001
A model of chemical bonding between ions in manganites involving covalent one-electron $\sigma$ bonding is suggested. The covalent one-electron $\sigma$ bonding gives rise to a strongly correlated state of electrons resulting from the exchange ...

Temperature dependent correlations in covalent insulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Motivated by the peculiar behavior of FeSi and FeSb2 we study the effect of local electronic correlations on magnetic, transport and optical properties in a specific type of band insulator, namely a covalent insulator.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
