Multidimensional Profiling of MRI‐Negative Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Uncovers Distinct Phenotypes

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although hippocampal sclerosis (TLE‐HS) represents the most frequent cause of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), up to 30% of patients show no lesion on visual MRI inspection (TLE‐MRIneg). These cases pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges and are underrepresented in surgical series.

Shap‐Cov: An Explainable Machine Learning Based Workflow for Rapid Covariate Identification in Population Modeling

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology
Covariate identification in population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (popPK/PD) modeling is a key component in model development that is often prone to bias, time‐consuming, and even intractable when too many covariates or complicated models are being ...

Location‐Specific Hematoma Volume Predicts Early Neurological Deterioration in Supratentorial ICH

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Early neurological deterioration (END) adversely affects outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). This study aimed to determine the location‐specific hematoma volumes for END in supratentorial ICH patients. Methods We retrospectively analyzed supratentorial ICH patients presenting from two prospective cohorts.

Parameter approximations for quantile regressions with measurement error [PDF]

open access: yes
The impact of covariate measurement error on quantile regression functions is investigated using a small variance approximation. The approximation shows how the error contaminated and error free quantile regression functions are related, a key factor ...

Paramagnetic Rim Lesions Are Associated With Trans‐Synaptic Degeneration of the Visual Pathway in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Retrograde trans‐synaptic degeneration (rTSD) from posterior visual pathway lesions in multiple sclerosis (MS) is characterized by hemi‐macular ganglion cell‐inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) thinning and contralateral visual field loss.

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

Objective First, Method Second: Why the Estimand Definition Comes First in Pharmacometric Covariate Modeling

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology
Pharmacometric covariate analyses support both mechanistic understanding and clinical decision‐making, that is, two different objectives which require different analysis targets.

Balancing Treatment Allocation over Continuous Covariates: A New Imbalance Measure for Minimization

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, 2012
In many clinical trials, it is important to balance treatment allocation over covariates. Although a great many papers have been published on balancing over discrete covariates, the procedures for continuous covariates have been less well studied ...

Onasemnogene Abeparvovec in Type I Spinal Muscular Atrophy: 24‐Month Follow‐Up From the Italian Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Onasemnogene abeparvovec (OA) is an AAV9‐based gene therapy for spinal muscular atrophy type I (SMA I). Real‐world outcomes show increased response variability compared to clinical trials, and follow‐up data beyond 12–18 months are limited.

Covariant hyperquantization

open access: yes, 1956
The differential equations for the vacuum expectation values of chronological products of field operators are transcribed into an operator formalism which is covariant under the Lorentz group. This is accomplished by introducing a new set of field operators with the same transformation properties as the ordinary fields to which they correspond.
