Expression of Cyclooxygenase Enhances Tumor Invasion and Metastasis in Human Gastric Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Background: Expression of COX-2 in vitro has been shown to have a number of cellular effects including increasing proliferation, reducing apoptosis promoting angiogenesis, decreasing E-cadherin expression and increasing invasive/metastatic potential ...

Microglia limit brain tumor development by restricting tumor cell proliferation and inducing T‐cell immunity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Microglia (BV2) and IL‐4‐treated BMDMs promote astrocytoma clustering and inhibit tumor growth, not shown in other macrophage cells. In vivo, microglial co‐implantation enhances CD8+ T cell infiltration, elevates Granzyme B, lowers circulating MDSCs, and extends survival only in immune‐competent mice, but not in immune‐deficient mice.

Identifying prognostic targets in metastatic prostate cancer beyond AR

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Genome‐wide functional screens combined with a large gene expression database and clinical outcomes can identify new therapeutic vulnerabilities in prostate cancer. Eight potentially druggable targets demonstrated strong dependency in cell lines, were associated with worse prognosis clinically, and showed evidence of protein expression in prostate ...

Upregulation of PPAR-gamma activity inhibits cyclooxygenase 2 expression in cortical neurons with N-methyl-d-aspartic acid induced excitatory neurotoxicity

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2019
This study aimed to investigate the effect of upregulated peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-γ) activity on cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) expression and N-methyl-d-aspartic acid (NMDA)-induced excitatory neurotoxicity in primary cultured ...

COX-2 expression mediated by calcium-TonEBP signaling axis under hyperosmotic conditions serves osmoprotective function in nucleus pulposus cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The nucleus pulposus (NP) of intervertebral discs experiences dynamic changes in tissue osmolarity because of diurnal loading of the spine. TonEBP/NFAT5 is a transcription factor that is critical in osmoregulation as well as survival of NP cells in the ...

Increased expression of cyclooxygenase-2 in first-degree relatives of gastric cancer patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Aim: To study the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in human gastric cancer tissues and their paired adjacent mucosa, as well as mucosa from gastric antrum and corpus of the first-degree relatives of the recruited cancer patients.

Liver‐specific lncRNAs associated with liver cancers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are regulatory molecules with various functions. They are more tissue‐specific than proteins and can be used as potential biomarkers, particularly in cancer diagnostics and prognosis. In this review, we have systematically compiled all lncRNAs with exclusive expression in the human liver, verified their liver specificity ...

Upregulation of Cytokines and Differentiation of Th17 and Treg by Dendritic Cells: Central Role of Prostaglandin E2 Induced by Mycobacterium bovis

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
Mycobacterium bovis (M. bovis) is a zoonotic pathogen that causes bovine and human tuberculosis. Dendritic cells play a critical role in initiating and regulating immune responses by promoting antigen-specific T-cell activation.
