Analysis of the PS II proteins MSP and CP43 [PDF]
The goals of this proposal were two-fold: (1) to analyze the impact of mutations in the psbO gene (coding for the Mn-stabilizing protein, MSP) on O{sub 2}-evolution; and (2) to analyze membrane assembly in cyanobacteria, especially the effect of iron deficiency on this process.

Localization of the CyanoP binding site on Photosystem II by surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy
Photosystem II (PSII), a large multi subunit membrane protein complex localized in the thylakoid membrane of cyanobacteria and chloroplasts, is the only known enzyme that catalyzes the light driven oxidation of water.

Daily Heat Stress Induces Donor‐Side Limitation of PSI Via Downregulation of the Cyt b6f Complex
ABSTRACT The rapidly warming climate is driving increasingly frequent and intense heat waves worldwide, posing major challenges to plant metabolism and growth. Despite the central role of photosynthesis in plant growth, the effects of prolonged heat stress on the primary reactions of photosynthesis remain poorly understood.

Overview of the results. Phylogenetic analyses of 36 assembly factors of photosystem II (PSII) and 13 proteins involved in membrane dynamics summarized in Siebenaller & Schneider (2023) were performed to investigate the taxonomic distributions and structural differences between the thylakoid‐less Gloeobacterales and the Phycobacteria. Summary Thylakoid

Pathways for Energy Transfer in the Core Light-Harvesting Complexes CP43 and CP47 of Photosystem II [PDF]
The pigment-protein complexes CP43 and CP47 transfer excitation energy from the peripheral antenna of photosystem II toward the photochemical reaction center. We measured the excitation dynamics of the chlorophylls in isolated CP43 and CP47 complexes at 77 K by time-resolved absorbance-difference and fluorescence spectroscopy.

Phycobilisomes: modular light‐harvesting systems of cyanobacteria and red algae
SUMMARY Phycobilisomes (PBSs) are supramolecular pigment–protein complexes that function as the principal light‐harvesting antennae in cyanobacteria, red algae (Rhodophyta), and glaucophytes, and to a lesser extent in cryptophytes. Because the intrinsic chlorophyll‐based antennae of the photosystems absorb poorly in the green region of the spectrum ...

We reanalyzed our XFEL data, the results of which showed the insertion of O6 during the S2–S3 transition in water oxidation by photosystem II. These results contradict the interpretation proposed by Wang that there is no insertion of O6 during the S2–S3 transition.Photosystem II (PSII) catalyzes the light‐driven oxidation of water to molecular oxygen ...
