Evidence for shape coexistence in 52Cr through conversion-electron and pair-conversion spectroscopy [PDF]
Electric monopole (E0) transitions are a highly sensitive probe of the charge distribution of an atomic nucleus. A large E0 transition strength (ρ2(E0)) is a clear indicator of nuclear shape coexistence.

Ab Initio Phase Diagram of Chromium to 2.5 TPa
Chromium possesses remarkable physical properties such as hardness and corrosion resistance. Chromium is also a very important geophysical material as it is assumed that lighter Cr isotopes were dissolved in the Earth’s molten core during the planet’s ...

Monitoring Cr toxicity and remediation processes - combining a whole-cell bioreporter and Cr isotope techniques [PDF]
Bioremediation is a sustainable and cost-effective means of contaminant detoxification. Although Cr(VI) is toxic at high concentrations, various microbes can utilise it as an electron accepter in the bioremediation process, and reduce it to the less toxic form Cr(III).

Benchmarking the simulation of Cr isotope fractionation
A benchmark problem set consisting of four problem levels was developed for the simulation of Cr isotope fractionation in 1D and 2D domains. The benchmark is based on a recent field study where Cr(VI) reduction and accompanying Cr isotope fractionation occurs abiotically by an aqueous reaction with dissolved Fe 2+ (Wanner et al., 2012., Appl. Geochem.,

Passage kinetics of concentrates in dairy cows measured with carbon stable isotopes
Fractional passage rates form a fundamental element within modern feed evaluation systems for ruminants, but knowledge on feed-specific fractional passage is largely lacking. Commonly applied tracer techniques based on externally applied markers, such as

Adakites or adakitic rocks usually show special geochemical signatures and are petrological probes to reveal the tectono–magmatic evolutionary history of paleo–orogenic belts. Here, we present a comprehensive study on the zircon U–Pb geochronology, whole-

Isotope Anomalies in the Fe-group Elements in Meteorites and Connection to Nucleosynthesis in AGB Stars [PDF]
We study the effects of neutron captures in AGB stars on \oq Fe-group\cqb elements, with an emphasis on Cr, Fe, and Ni. These elements show anomalies in $^{54}$Cr, $^{58}$Fe, and $^{64}$Ni in solar-system materials, which are commonly attributed to SNe ...

Search for $\alpha$-cluster states in even-even Cr isotopes
The $\alpha + \mathrm{core}$ structure is investigated in even-even Cr isotopes from the viewpoint of the local potential model. The comparison of $Q_{\alpha}/A$ values for even-even Cr isotopes and even-even $A = 46,54,56,58$ isobars indicates that ...

Enhanced collectivity along the N=Z line: Lifetime measurements in 44Ti, 48Cr, and 52Fe
Lifetimes of the 21+ states in 44Ti, 48,50Cr, and 52Fe were determined with high accuracy exploiting the recoil distance Doppler-shift method. The reduced E2 transition strengths of 44Ti and 52Fe differ considerably from previously known values.
