CrackU‐net: A novel deep convolutional neural network for pixelwise pavement crack detection

open access: yesStructural Control & Health Monitoring, 2020
Periodic road crack monitoring is an essential procedure for effective pavement management. Highly efficient and accurate crack measurements are key research topics in both academia and industry.

Two Faces of NOTCH1 in Childhood Lymphoblastic T‐Cell Neoplasia: Prognostic Divergence of Mutational and Structural Aberrations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In pediatric patients, T‐cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T‐LBL) survival exceeds 80%. Relapse remains associated with limited curative options. Frontline treatment is largely extrapolated from T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) treatment, reflecting the ongoing debate, whether both entities represent distinct diseases or variants within ...

Simulation of the effect of mortar-aggregate interface on meso-scale damage behavior of steel fiber-reinforced concrete

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics
This paper focuses on studying the effect of the interface between the mortar matrix and aggregate particles on the meso-scale behavior of steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC). To achieve this, a phase field model enhanced by a cohesive law is applied

Study of mechanical behavior by fatigue of a cracked plate repaired by different composite patches

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2021
This research is based on the study of the fatigue behavior of an aluminum alloy plate with a central crack. The plate is subjected to a tensile loading on its lower and upper parts.

Development of a fretting-fatigue mapping concept: The effect of material properties and surface treatments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Fretting-fatigue induced by combined localized cyclic contact motion and external bulk fatigue loadings may result in premature and dramatic failure of the contacting components.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Non-steady state chloride migration and binding in cracked self-compacting concrete [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We adopted a notch method to study the influence of crack width (macro level) on chloride transport and binding of cracked concrete under a non-steady state migration test.

Cracking the Nut [PDF]

open access: yesToxicological Sciences, 2004
Phthalate esters impart flexibility to hard plastics, are used as inert ingredients in cosmetics and personal hygiene products, and are ubiquitous environmental contaminants. Finding the underlying molecular mechanism of phthalate-induced testicular injury has been a vision quest of male reproductive toxicologists for many decades.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Fracture energy of gels

open access: yes, 2000
To clarify effects of crack speed and cross-link density on fracture energy of acrylamide gels, we evaluated the roughness of the fracture surface and measured the fracture energy taking into account the roughness.
