A Crack Mouth Opening Displacement Gauge Made With Passive UHF RFID Technology

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2022
In structural health monitoring crack detection and its width measurement are important monitored parameters. The Crack Mouth Opening Displacement (CMOD) is a good indicator of fracture properties. A new kind of CMOD gauge is shown in the paper, it is a wireless sensor tag based on off-the-shelf Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency Identification

Observation of crack closure using a crack mouth opening displacement gauge

International Journal of Fatigue, 1989
A crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) gauge has been designed to estimate the crack length as well as the crack opening stress level in an automated fatigue crack propagation test programme. The CMOD gauge accurately predicts crack tip opening levels in K-controlled tests with constant K, K increasing or K decreasing.

Crack mouth opening displacement controlled fracture tests of brittle ceramics

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2010
Abstract Controlled fracture tests are required for the accurate determination of the toughness parameters of materials in order to assure the full conversion of the supplied energy into crack surface energy. From the three parameters involved in the test, load, displacement of the load point and crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD), this latter ...

Derivation of J-resistance curve for through wall cracked pipes from crack mouth opening displacement

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2006
Abstract In this paper, factors for calculating the J-resistance curve from the measured crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) record are derived for circumferential through wall cracked straight pipes subjected to pure bending. Rigorous elastic plastic finite element analyses of around 125 circumferential through wall cracked straight pipes ...

Relationship between Deflection and Crack Mouth Opening Displacement of Self-Compacting Concrete Beams with and without Fibers

Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, 2015
There are only a few research results for predicting the relationship between deflection and the crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) of self-compacting concrete (SCC) beams with and without fibers. A series of bending beam tests on SCC, with different fiber types have been carried out.

FIBER Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor for estimation of Crack Mouth Opening Displacement (CMOD) in concrete

Journal of Optics, 2015
Crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) is one of the important parameters for characterizing the fracture properties in concrete. Amongst various optical fiber senors, Fiber Bragg gratings are (FBG) being used for structural health monitoring in the recent times. Very few reports exist in literature for use of CMOD estimation using FBG sensors.

Investigations into the relationship between deflection and crack mouth opening displacement of SFRC beam

Construction and Building Materials, 2011
Abstract Currently there are only few research results for predicting the relationship between deflection and the crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams. A series of bending beam tests on SFRC, with different fibre contents and fibre types have been carried out.
