A data-driven prediction for concrete crack propagation path based on deep learning method

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Accurate and efficient prediction of concrete crack propagation path facilitates timely maintenance. To avoid errors arising from assumptions in physical models and parameter measurements, a data-driven prediction method for concrete crack propagation ...

INFLUENCE OF MATERIAL PARAMETER MISMATCH ON CRACK PROPAGATION IN COMPOSITE LAMINATES

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2022
The propagation path of cracks perpendicular to the interface of composite laminates usually takes many forms. By analyzing the stress field of crack tip during crack propagation, the driving force of crack tip is determined, in this way, the crack ...

On the Effects of Modeling As-Manufactured Geometry: Toward Digital Twin

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2014
A simple, nonstandardized material test specimen, which fails along one of two different likely crack paths, is considered herein. The result of deviations in geometry on the order of tenths of a millimeter, this ambiguity in crack path motivates the ...

Fatigue crack propagation analysis considering the dynamic crack-load coupling effect

open access: yesScientific Reports
Gear fillet crack is one of the most common defects of the gear transmission system, and the study of gear fillet crack propagation and life prediction has attracted much attention in the literature. The existence of the crack will alter the dynamic load

STUDY ON CRACK PROPAGATION CHARACTERISTICS OF COUPLER BASED ON SUB-MODEL

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2018
In order to ensure safe operation of heavy haul train and maintenance cost control of coupler,sub-models containing elliptical surface crack are established on fatigue crack zones of the coupler body and knuckle.

Crack-Path Analysis for Brittle and Non-Brittle Cracks: A Cell Method Approach

open access: yesComputer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, 2004
Defining the crack path in brittle and non-brittle crack is not easy, due to several unknowns. If the direction of crack propagation can be computed by means of one of the existing criteria, it is not known whether this direction will remain constant during crack propagation. A crack initiation leads to an enhanced stress field at crack tip.

On crack path evolution rules

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2010
The models of crack growth in mixed mode conditions are reviewed for the plane and three-dimensional (3D) states of stress. Both critical load value and crack path or surface growth are predicted by different criteria in terms of elastic singular stress states and T-stress component. Monotonic and cyclic loading induced crack growth is considered.

Crack path determination

Proceedings. The 8th Russian-Korean International Symposium on Science and Technology, 2004. KORUS 2004., 2005
In responsible elements of the planes, bridges and other constructions from metal and composite materials the stress state in the tips of crack is mixed type. At that the conditions of rectilinear growth of a crack are violated as shown by numerous observations and experiments.

On crack paths

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1987
Abstract Crack paths are discussed from several different points of view. The remarkable reproducibility of crack paths, especially the frequent occurrence of straight cracks, is considered. The general dominance of mode I growth at mixed mode loading (via kinking or tilting of the crack edge) is examined, and it is shown that mode I growth can be ...
