Crash severity analysis of vulnerable road users using machine learning

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Road crash fatality is a universal problem of the transportation system. A massive death toll caused annually due to road crash incidents, and among them, vulnerable road users (VRU) are endangered with high crash severity.

Effect of tranexamic acid in traumatic brain injury: a nested randomised, placebo controlled trial (CRASH-2 Intracranial Bleeding Study). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
OBJECTIVE: To assess the effect of tranexamic acid (which reduces bleeding in surgical patients and reduces mortality due to bleeding in trauma patients) on intracranial haemorrhage in patients with traumatic brain injury.

Intersection Two-Vehicle Crash Scenario Specification for Automated Vehicle Safety Evaluation Using Sequence Analysis and Bayesian Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
This paper develops a test scenario specification procedure using crash sequence analysis and Bayesian network modeling. Intersection two-vehicle crash data was obtained from the 2016 to 2018 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Crash Report Sampling System database.

Applying Association Rules Mining to Investigate Pedestrian Fatal and Injury Crash Patterns Under Different Lighting Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesSAGE Journals (Volume 2676, Issue 6, 2022), 2022
The pattern of pedestrian crashes varies greatly depending on lighting circumstances, emphasizing the need of examining pedestrian crashes in various lighting conditions. Using Louisiana pedestrian fatal and injury crash data (2010-2019), this study applied Association Rules Mining (ARM) to identify the hidden pattern of crash risk factors according to

Crash Diagnosis and Price Rebound Prediction in NYSE Composite Index Based on Visibility Graph and Time-Evolving Stock Correlation Network

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
This study proposes a framework to diagnose stock market crashes and predict the subsequent price rebounds. Based on the observation of anomalous changes in stock correlation networks during market crashes, we extend the log-periodic power-law model with

Modeling Lead-vehicle Kinematics For Rear-end Crash Scenario Generation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEETrans.Intell.Transp.Syst. 25 (2024) 3176-3186, 2023
The use of virtual safety assessment as the primary method for evaluating vehicle safety technologies has emphasized the importance of crash scenario generation. One of the most common crash types is the rear-end crash, which involves a lead vehicle and a following vehicle.

An Aerial–Aquatic Hitchhiking Robot with Remora‐Inspired Tactile Sensors and Thrust Vectoring Units

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView., 2023
An untethered aerial–aquatic hitchhiking robot that can be remotely controlled for flying, swimming, and transiting air–water boundaries rapidly (0.16 s), is presented. Notably, it can autonomously attach to various surfaces in both air and water environments using a remora‐inspired suction disc with flexible tactile sensors.
