Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

Hierarchical Structure and Fabrication of Functionally Graded Biointerfaces in the Mussel Byssus
The byssus is a fibrous protein‐based holdfast consisting of mechanically distinct interfaces, which mussels use to anchor their soft living tissue to hard seashore surfaces. Here, multiscale methodologies were used to elucidate the compositional and structural features underlying these functionally graded interfaces and how they are fabricated through

An automation interface for environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) enables simultaneous, interlaced data sets via frame‐by‐frame parameter changes. Demonstrated on oscillatory hydrogen oxidation over cobalt (Co) foil, dual‐magnification imaging bridges mesoscopic to microscopic length scales, capturing alternating views of surface dynamics ...

The Substitutability of Equities and Consumer Durable Goods: A Portfolio-Choice Approach [PDF]
Using the analytical approach made famous by Chetty [4] and quarterly data covering the period from 1963.4 through 1991.3, we estimate elasticities of substitution between common stocks and residential housing and between stocks and government bonds ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Comparison of Test and Finite Element Analysis for Two Full-Scale Helicopter Crash Tests [PDF]
Finite element analyses have been performed for two full-scale crash tests of an MD-500 helicopter. The first crash test was conducted to evaluate the performance of a composite deployable energy absorber under combined flight loads.

This study reveals that metformin promotes glucuronic acid metabolism in lung adenocarcinoma by activating UGDH S476 phosphorylation and enhancing the conversion of UDPG to UDPGA based on metabolomics analysis. Through compound virtual screening, it is found that plantainoside targeting UGDH downstream UXS1 leads to UDPGA toxicity accumulation ...

Light airplane crash tests at three pitch angles [PDF]
Three similar twin-engine general aviation airplane specimens were crash tested at an impact dynamics research facility at 27 m/sec, a flight path angle of -15 deg, and pitch angles of -15 deg, 0 deg, and 15 deg. Other crash parameters were held constant.

Zinc Exposure Causes Disulfidptosis to Induce Miscarriage by Up‐Regulating GATA1/METTL1/SLC7A11 Axis
Zn exposure up‐regulates GATA1, promoting GATA1‐mediated METTL1 and SLC7A11 transcription. It also enhances METTL1‐mediated m7G modification on SLC7A11 mRNA, increasing SLC7A11 mRNA stability. Ultimately, Zn exposure up‐regulates SLC7A11 at both transcriptional and post‐transcriptional levels, causing disulfidptosis. Knockdown of murine Slc7a11, Gata1,
