Factors Affecting Survival of Cryopreserved Oyster (Crassostrea gigas) Embryos
A conventional two-step freezing procedure was developed and optimized in order to cryopreserve oyster embryos. The effects of cooling rate, choice of cryoprotectant, and seeding temperature on the survival of late-stage oyster embryos were examined.

Shellfish producers have proposed using depuration systems to reduce Vibrio parahaemolyticus levels by supporting the oysters' natural purging ability. For commercial viability, depuration efficacy must be validated in relevant species and at scale using

Conditionnement artificiel de l'huître Crassostrea gigas [PDF]
In France, 90% of the annual cup oyster (Crassostrea gigas) production comes from larvae caught in the Arcachon and Marennes-Oléron basins. However, the spat catch shows many interannual irregularities and oyster farmers increasingly say they need spat outside of the reproductive period.

Bacterivory in Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas larvae
A bacterium (Strain CA2) that enhances sunrival and growth of larvae of the oyster Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg) was used in a series of experiments to determine the occurrence of bacterivory in straight-hinged bivalve larvae. Size and carbon content of this bacterium was found to be within the range reported for naturally occurnng marine bacteria ...
